KENNEDY RECORDS SCHOOL-RECORD FIVE ASSISTS IN GOPHER WIN OVER MSU, MANKATO

Junior defense Courtney Kennedy tallied a school-record five assists while
Tracy Engstrom and Betsey Kukowski chipped in with two goals each as
Minnesota defeated Minnesota State, Mankato 7-1.

Kennedy set up Engstrom for the game's first goal just one minute, 47
seconds into the opening period and also assisted on Laura Slominski's
power-play goal nine minutes later. Engstrom scored her 10th goal of the
season with 6:23 left in the opening period and the Gophers led 3-0.

Kukowski sandwiched her third and fourth goals of the season around a
Shannon Kennedy at 6:46 of the second period to put Minnesota up 6-0 before
the Mavericks' Ashleigh Miller scored at the 11:30 mark of the period.

Winny Brodt's fifth goal of the season with seven minutes left in the second
period was the game's final goal as the two teams skated through a scoreless
third period.

Even though she set Minnesota's new assist mark, Courtney Kennedy was quick
to credit others.

"It came from the entire team's passing game," she said. "We moved the puck
around pretty good and that's something we really wanted to work on
tonight."

By holding Minnesota State to 0-for-4 on the power play, the Gophers have
now killed 35 consecutive penalties over six games.

The win gives Minnesota a 10-3-0 record and a perfect 7-0-0 mark in the
WCHA-Women's League. The Mavericks fall to 2-7-1 overall and 0-4-1 in league
play.

The Gophers have Thanksgiving weekend off but return to face league-leading
Minnesota-Duluth, Dec. 3-4, at Mariucci Arena.

Subject: Hockey Grant from the Flyers

I found information on the Flyers website regarding a new program they're
doing giving out grants for hockey programs. It looks like it may be worth
checking out for those of you who are involved in underfunded (and who
isn't?) programs. The info specifically says that the money can be used
for womens programs.

Check it out at the below listed website and I hope someone on this list
can benefit from it.
