Subject: ITECH mask

A while back some postings were made concerning rust on an ITECH face mask.
My computer has crashed a couple of times since then and wiped out my e mail
files, so I can't just look it up. I looked over at a young friend at hockey
the other night and realized his ITECH face mask was terribly rusted....thus
I thought I would post here and ask the person that had the problem and, as I
recall, solved it, would please contact me personally about the issue.

Thanks. laura

Women¢s Hockey Outlasted By No. 3 Minnesota

Madison, WI - Kendra Antony (Yorkton, Sask.) had a goal and three assists, but the Wisconsin women¢s ice hockey team fell short of third-ranked Minnesota, 7-4 on Friday.

The game was the first for the Badgers at the Dane County Coliseum, and they began their history with their first goal at 2:24 of the opening period. Antony won a faceoff deep in the Gopher zone back to Roberta Shufeldt (Romulus, Mich.) at the point. Shufeldt shot a floater that hit off the underside of the crossbar and into the net for the 1-0 lead.

Ambria Thomas responded at 4:13 with a shorthanded goal for the Gophers. Thomas stole the puck at the point off a Badger defender and skated in alone for the first of her three goals on the night.

The Badgers regained the lead at 6:40 when Bridget Buchholz (Waupun, Wis.) finished off a pass from Antony in the slot. It was Buchholz¢s second of the season and put UW up 2-1.

The Gophers evened the score once again, however, as Courtney Kennedy got the puck at her own blue line and skated the length of the ice before beating Badger goaltender Jackie MacMillan (Buffalo, Minn.) at 9:50. The goal made the game 2-2 and the score remained that way until the second period.

Antony notched her 11th of the season at 6:31 of the second to give the Badgers their third lead of the contest. Natascha Sherman (Seattle, Wash.) and Kerry Weiland (Palmer, Alaska) made two quick passes in the slot to feed Antony for the goal.

Once again, the Gopher responded as Thomas scored her second of the game at 10:56 of the second. Bridget¢s sister Emily was credited with one of the assists on the goal, giving each of the Buchholz¢s a point in the contest.

The teams were done scoring until the third when the Gophers began controlling play. Minnesota tallied two goals, six seconds apart, starting with a power-play tally at 3:06. Melanie Schmitt (Sheboygan, Wis.) was called for checking and Tracy Engstrom capitlaized, scoring her seventh of the year to break a 3-3 tie. Off the ensuing faceoff, Ambria Thomas completed the hat trick when Laura Slominski won the draw back to Ronda Curtin, who slid the puck to Thomas on the right wing. Thomas found the net at 3:12 to make it a 5-3 game.

*Anytime a goal is scored is when you¢re scared the most about another one,* said head Wisconsin coach Julie Sasner. *Anytime we get a goal, I¢m telling my team Áhey, the next 40 seconds just hold them,¢ because those are big momentum shifts.*

Schmitt brought Wisconsin back within one when she followed up her own blocked shot in the slot for her second of the year. The goal at 6:26 was assisted by Antony and Liz Jankowski (Maple Grove, Minn.).

Ronda Curtin made it 6-4 at 7:51 with her 10th of the season, and Tracy Engstrom added an empty net goal at 19:23 as the Gophers finished with the 7-4 victory.

MacMillan stopped 28 shots and fell to 1-2-0. The Gophers started Erica Killewald, but replaced her with Crystal Nicholas to start the second period. Nicholas earned stopped nine shots to earn the win and improve to 2-0-0. Killewald made five first-period saves, allowing two goals.

Minnesota outlasted Wisconsin in the first women¢s ice hockey meeting between the traditional rivals. The experience of the Gophers showed in the final period.

*The Buchholz sisters are the metaphors for the two programs,* said Sasner. *Here¢s Bridget a couple of years younger than her sister, and here¢s our program a couple of years younger than our big sister over in Minnesota. They have really been the model of a Division I, Big Ten hockey program.*

The first-year Badgers (7-5-1, 5-3-1 WCHA) look for their first win over a ranked opponent tomorrow when they complete their weekend series with Minnesota (8-3-0, 5-0-0 WCHA). Game-time is slated for 7:05 p.m., at the Dane County Coliseum.

BACKGROUNDER

United Scholastic Achievers, Inc. and its Team U.S.A., was established by Al
Clemens under the belief that the hockey experience has numerous benefits for
todays youth. Included in these beliefs are the following: 1) the desire to
develop and encourage our childrens' physical, domestic and educational
pursuits, 2) the desire to create an environment that rewards
contemporaneously achieved scholastic endeavors and provides long term
benefits, 3) the desire to create an environment that prepares our children
for the future, 4) the desire to provide all members the opportunity to earn
a college education, 5) the desire to create a positive environment, and 6)
the desire to grow collectively as a team. In addition, Coach Clemens and
his staff, have achieved their certified status as hockey coaches through USA
Hockey, Inc. During February 1997, Coach Clemens completed and submitted his

It is the goal of United Scholastic Achievers, Inc. to run a program rather
than just another hockey team. It is our belief that participating in hockey
provides a wealth of opportunities. Concerned with the development of
individuals through hockey, it is also our belief that a properly controlled,
well organized program, meets the players' need for self expression, mental
alertness and physical growth. The coaching team strives to maintain a sound
program that will further each players' development in those areas. Most
important, the coaching team stresses the importance of current scholastic
endeavors and encourage solid college education. It is our goal to use
hockey as a vehicle to establish programs that will provide each player (that
participates in our program) the opportunity to earn and afford a college
education. Our program encourages youths to: become self sufficient, to excel
in the education process, to pursue higher education, and to grow up to be
full participants in a fast-changing and increasingly complex world.
