OHIO TEAMS)
Eastern Tigers def Yevets Erie Lady Lions

Ohio Flames advance

After losing all 3 games last year, including one to
Yevets and the Flames, we did pretty well this year.
Last year we lost 6-0 in districts to the Flames, and
earlier this season 3-0. We lost 6-2, so we finally
were able to score. Last year we won one vs Erie and
lost to them in districts. This win against them was
our only meeting this season. Good Luck to the Flames.

Subject: Japanese Team Visits Victoria

The Victoria Stingers Women's rec team are hosting a visiting team from the
Tokyo College of Physical Education, in conjunction with the Stingers' first
tournament since their inception, 34 years ago.

The Tokyo team is comprised of 18-19 year old women, who are training to
become Physical Education teachers. At home they get 10 hours per month on
ice training, supplanted by dry land training, year round.

So far they have played two different Stinger sides, Sooke Thunderbirds,
"Chicks With Sticks" and are scheduled to meet the CFB Esquimalt Lady Blues,
Panorama Spitfires, two teams from Portland, Oregon as well as Kerry Park
Lightning, Comox, Campbell River and Vancouver.

The Stingers hosted a bowling outing on Friday night for the Japanese
visitors. Local sporting goods outlets are benefitting from the hockey
tourists, keen to buy equipment in Canadian dollars.

The Lindal Sportsmanship tournament welcomes the above out of town teams
beginning Friday March 26, with a party Saturday the 27th at Archie Browning
Sports Centre in Victoria. The championship game is 3:30 pm Sunday the 27th.

What an incredible experience for both hockey parents and daughters this
weekend at Brown University. Thanks to the ECAC and all the college staff
participants for putting together a weekend that broke alltime attendance
records for this event. The YES (Youth Education through Sports) Clinic
for Girls/Womens Hockey appeared to be a tremendous success that combined
fun, enjoyment and education for players and their parents. A real chance
to check out the prospects and possibilities for college hockey. With the
whole thing capped by one heck of an exciting and entertaining physical
game between the #1 and #2 seed teams in the country. All in all, an
unforgettable weekend for father and daughter.

Hi Everyone, Well, since in the states we don't get to see any women's
hockey, it's really hard to get excited. Just read an article inthe local
paper(Pgh,Pa) about our Olympic team, and was quite surprised as to how many
girls have retired!I presumed this was their life. Anyway, on one of the
sports talk radio stations I listen to mentions in not too many nice words
how women don't know anything about hockey and they should just get off the
ice, that really doesn't help us, does it?Asia
