Subject: NYC GIRLS EMPIRE STATE TEAM

In case any of you missed our tryouts this past weekend, we still have room 
for more girls for the NYC Empire State Team.  We will be setting up another 
tryout within the next 2 weeks. (date is still TBA)

You still have a chance to try out for the team!

This is a great opportunity and promises to be a lot of fun!  

Players  must reside in the 5 boros of New York City, and must be in grades  
9-11  (as of May 1999).    

8th graders are welcome to join us for the tryouts and the practices, but 
will not be able to play in the Games in July. (Hint: This is a good way to 
get one foot in the door for next year's team.)

There is NO COST to participate!

- -Charlene Labonte is the first female to ever be drafted in the QMJHL
(maybe even the CHL??  Lloyd, Norm, anyone??).  And if she plays in a
major junior game, she will actually be the second female.  The first
being, of course, goalie Manon Rheaume.

In other QMHJL news, the Montreal Rocket have signed assistant coach
Danielle Sauvageau.  She is the first female coach in the QMJHL.
Sauvageau used to be the head coach of the national women's team.
