Greetings from the land of 10,000 (finally) frozen lakes, and hot girl's
high school hockey. Our community hosted an eight team tournament Dec.
31 1998, Jan. 1st & 2nd, 1999. This year field included five of the
states top ten ranked teams, with 2nd ranked Eagan (and 9th grader,
Natalie Darwitz) upending 6th ranked Burnsville High in the championship
game.

Match up of state ranked teams in quarterfinal action on Thursday
12-31-98, had Burnsville ousting number 1 ranked Roseville High 3-2 in a
double shoot-out. Renee Curtin scored both goals for the defeated
Raiders from Roseville. Natalie Darwitz scored two goals and had an
assist to lead No.2 ranked Eagan to a 7-0 victory over defending State
Champions, Apple Valley. Host team and currently 4th ranked South St.
Paul held off a scrappy 7th ranked Henry Sibley High for a 5-1 victory.

Semi final action on Friday 1-1-99 Marquee game had the Natalie Darwitz
led Eagan Wildcats facing host South St. Paul Packers. Robbed at the end
of the first period and foiled several times in the second, Natalie
Darwitz struck for three goals in the third to give the Eagan girls
hockey team a 4-3 victory over South St. Paul. Darwitz scored the
winning goal with 27 seconds remaining in the third period. The goal,
which completed a pure hat trick for the Eagan ninth-grader, was her
29th of the season. She also has 13 assists. Senior Kelly Kegley of
South St. Paul, also had three goals for the Packers (she has 22 for the
season), opened the scoring with a short-handed goal 25 seconds into the
second period.

Eagan (12-1), played No. 6 Burnsville (9-1-2) for the tournament
championship with Natalie Darwitz scoring two goals enroute to a 3-1
victory. No. 4 South St. Paul (12-1) faced Hibbing in the third-place
game. South St. Paul Junior, Erika Hockinson scored two goals with line
mate Kelly Kegley assisting on both in the Packers 5-2 defeat over
Hibbing. Top-ranked Roseville bounced back from its shoot-out loss to
Burnsville in the quarterfinal action to defeat Apple Valley 4-1 for
the consolation championship. Sisters Rhonda and Renee Curtin each had
two goals and an assist.

With the number of highly skilled players pushing the envelope this past
weekend, college recruiters from around the country attended this
tournament to get a first hand look at this years graduating class.. I
suspect with the young talent returning and the possibility of having
next years tournament fielded with the top eight teams in the state our
hospitality suite will need enlarging.

Come and enjoy this event December 30 & 31, 1999 and Jan. 1, 2000. South
St. Paul is located 15 minutes from the Minneapolis Int'l Airport. For
more information feel free to contact me!

Subject: The woas of a hockey team...

I can't help but laugh. It just seams so funny to me. I know I shouldn't be
saying this but it's true.
The deal is the hockey team i manage, full of upper class"men", is about to
loose at least 5 of those men. 3 for bad grades and 3 quit. One of those 3 did
both. Their problems are with the coach, which i have to admit isn't my
favorite person in the world. But after going to most of the practices and
being involoved with a few, he's nothing to quit over. So we're down to 13-
14 guys possibly less.
My question is has this happened to anyone before? And where does it go from
here?

Also, could the list start puting somthing at the beginning of the subject
line. Mostly because i know alot of us get junk mail, and unless hockey is in
the title we don't always know and may miss it sometimes while deleteing the
junk mail.
Something simple like (W-I-H) or just WIH in the front so we don't miss
anything. Thanks

I think this is a good idea, I have the same problem with
trying to delete junk mail and not being able to tell if it is non-junk hockey
stuff.

Sorry about your team members flaking out. Don't these guys realize what a
priviledge it is to play hockey......obviously not!!!!
