Subject: New Jeresy Girls' Prep championship

On Wednesday the first two games of the NJ Prep Championships were played.
Princeton Day School the first placed team played Suart Country Day the fourth
placed team. Lawrenceville the second placed team played Pingry the third
place team. In the PDS vs. Stuart game, PDS won 11-1. In the Pingry L'Ville
game, L'Ville won 8-3. So PDS and L'Ville advanced to the finals.

PDS and L'Ville had faced each other 2 other times this season and for the
first time ever PDS beat Lawrenceville. PDS won both games. They will face
each other for the final time on Wednesday. Anyways they played each other
today for the Prep Championship. PDS won 6-3, playing most of the third period
without their star player Lauren Welsh ( she got hurt in the first 5 minutes
of that period). L. Welsh, A. Koerte, C. Riepeinhoff, and me Alix Warren each
put in one goal. Laura Gosnell scored two. The goal Sharon Herbert played a
great game! So Princeton Day won the first ever "Girls' Prep Championships".

Has anyone out there ever gone to a Laura Stamm power skating clinic?

There is one that actually fits my time schedule next month - and I am
serioulsy thinking of going.

My only concern is that it says it is for ages 8 & up. (I am 33!!)

(According to the schedule on their web page - there are no adult or women's
clinics near me. I am in NYC.)

I am hesitant to fork over 200 bucks if I am going to be the only adult on the
ice. Not only would I feel silly, but I know (from having been a ski
instructor) that teaching 8 year olds, teens and adults are entirely
different.

What are your experiences with this clinic? Do they split groups not only to
ability, but also to age?

I don't want to take months to research other schools and clinics - after
seeing a video tape of a recent game, I realized that there is an immediate
and urgent need for my skating technique (or lack thereof) to improve.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jill

Sisters Courtney and Shannon Kennedy along with Winny Brodt each scored two
goals and Minnesota fired a school-record 72 shots on goal in downing
Augsburg 10-0 at Augsburg Arena.

The Gophers had 34 shots in the opening 20 minutes but were able to get
just three past Augsburg goalie Meg Schmidt. Ambria Thomas opened the
scoring at 3:03 and Shannon Kennedy tallied just 19 seconds later.

Both players were among a group of Gophers that registered three points.
Brodt also had three points as did Jenny Schmidgall, who recorded three
assists.

Minnesota outshot the Auggies 72-4 in posting its 11th shutout of the
season. Crystal Nicholas had four saves for her sixth shutout while Meg
Schmidt had 62 saves.

The Gophers are in action again Sunday, beginning at 4:05 p.m., when they
take on Minnesota State, Mankato at the Midwest Wireless Center in Mankato.

Subject: Final Standings at Canadian Forces Womens Hockey Tournament

Canadian Forces Base Edmonton was victorious in the inaugural
Womens Hockey Tournament after a couple of major upsets in the
semi-final round. Fourth place after the round-robin, Edmonton
was able to overcome the tournament favourites composite team
(known as the "6-Pack" because of their conglomoration of six
different bases) in sudden-death overtime. 4 Wing Cold Lake
got the better of the combined Winnipeg/Moose Jaw team 1-0 (UG)
and so faced off against Edmonton in the final game. That game
went into overtime as well in a sudden-death thriller. Congrats
to all who attended the tournament and hopefully we will see
all of the teams next year at an official national competition.
