This may seem totally, utterly obvious, but don't count yourself out of
some weird size because you think there's no way it would fit you. I wear a
9 B women's shoe -- not wide or anything -- and I bought a used pair two
years ago. I ended up wearing a Bauer 3000 with the custom fit gel thing in
the heel, but the size is a 6 1/2 EE. I know that you're supposed to go a
size smaller in skates than your unisex size, but I never in a million
years thought of going so wide. Despite the fact that the store had very
knowledgeable sales staff, I don't know if they would have checked the wide
size if it hadn't been right on the rack in front of them. The regular
width was okay, but the wide just felt so much better, especially in the
toe box. And they're still fitting great.

This just confirms my belief that Bauers run ridiculously narrow.
If you usually wear a 9 B, and a Bauer EE fits just fine, imagine what
happens when those purportedly wide skates are put on actually wide feet.
My feet are 8 E in regular street shoes. Bauers are out of the question for
me, and others with wide feet have reported the same thing.

Well, I hope TSN is showing the game, but they shouldn't expect too much in
the way of ratings, because it's not in the TV Guide and the TSN website
shows a McCain curling thing on at the time the 3 Nations final is
happening.

Or is it going to be on tape delay in the middle of the night?

FYI,

Here are the details for the 3 Nations Cup -

RDS is broadcasting the final game live: 1pmEST, Sun, Dec. 5
TSN is not broadcasting the final game

CBC is broadcasting the final - tape delayed...
CBC will be showing the game next Saturday, Dec. 11 at 12noon ET

hope this clarifies things

well there's only one sports store here in hickville
that sells anything beyond clothes, and there was only
1 guy working in the place when i got my skates. these
will have to do. the guy was real old, and he couldn't
have cared less to even help find the skates i liked
off of the shelves. but these nike's will have to do.
i don't think my feet are miserable in them. as i
said, the back part is completely out around the
ankle. so it's like wearing a regular shoe to me.
there's no pressure on my ankle or muscles, like there
would be in the stiff bauer or ccm's. i suppose these
are men's skates. they're size 8 1/2. my toes don't
reach the end, but on the other hand, an 8 or 7 1/2 is
too small. the width is perfect. i like how they feel
so far. i've always heard that skates should be
EXTREMELY tight on you; but i think that's extremely
painful to have it feel like it's cutting off your
circulation.

Thanks Danielle. But it's a pretty poor arrangement for those of us out West
:(

As the final (no surprise) is shaping up as Canada/USA, I should think there'd be significant interest in a live telecast. I doubt many (except diehards like myself) will bother a week later.

Just discovered a site that is apparently the source of some controversy. It
shows a range of Toronto TV stations via RealVideo streams. You likely need
a quick (read: cable or T1) connection to access it properly, but at my end
the quality is quite good. You may have to fib a bit and give a Canadian
area code number, but other than that...

I mention this because I'm sure there are some people in the UK and USA who
would like to watch Hockey Night in Canada, and CBC is one of the stations
available. The reason it's controversial is due to rights issues that
haven't been fully worked out.

Women's Hockey Wins Thriller Over Minnesota State

Madison, Wis. - A season-high three power-play goals, including one with 11 seconds left in regulation by Michelle Sikich (Apple Valley, Minn.), propelled the Wisconsin women's ice hockey
team to a 3-2 win over Minnesota State University, Mankato, Friday. The victory marked the Badgers' first win at the Dane County Coliseum and in Madison.

\\\\``It was nice to get our first win at home,\\\\`` said head coach Julie Sasner. \\\\``I thought Mankato played
really well and made us earn everything that we got. It was also great to get the power play clicking. Three different people scored on the power-play for us tonight.\\\\``

Despite going 3-for-5 on the power play in the game, the Badgers allowed the first goal. Ryann
Geldner put the Mavericks on the board at 15:57 of the first period with help from Tina Serafin.

MSU, Mankato's edge lasted just past the midway point of the second period when Kerry Weiland (Palmer, Alaska) scored on a rebound off her own shot. Weiland dished off to Sis Paulsen (Eau Claire, Wis.) at the blue line before heading to the net. Paulsen returned the puck back to Weiland
in the slot for the shot and rebound goal. Weiland's sixth of the season came at 11:56 and on the power play.

Mankato's Erin Hafermann was whistled for hooking at 5:48 of the third period and the Badgers went on their fourth player advantage of the game. At 6:30, Mankato's Kim Corona found a loose puck at her own blue line and went the length of the ice for a shorthanded breakaway. Wisconsin goaltender Jackie MacMillan (Buffalo, Minn.) proved up to the task, reaching out with her right pad to preserve a 1-1 game.

\\\\``The play of the game was Jackie's breakaway save,\\\\`` exclaimed Sasner. \\\\``She made a great stop
there. That's where you win or lose the game. If you make that save you win the game, nine times out of ten if you don't you lose the game.\\\\``

Less than a minute later, still on a power play, Leslie Toner (Wausau, Wis.) gave the Badgers a
2-1 lead. Toner's goal came on the rebound of a Kendra Antony (Yorkton, Sask.) shot. Kelly Kegley (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) also got credit for an assist.

At 14:21, Kim Corona evened the game at two when she picked up a loose puck behind Wisconsin's goal, skated into the slot and slid the puck past MacMillan.

Just when it looked like the game was headed for overtime, Mankato's Hafermann took an elbowing penalty with 52 seconds remaining. The Badgers capitalized for their third power-play goal when Sikich with 11 seconds remaining. The goal came off the rebound of a Kegley shot from the slot. Kegley's shot came off the rebound of a Paulsen shot from the face-off circle.

The Badgers outshot the Mavericks 42-22 in the game, forcing MSU, Mankato goaltender Katie
Beauduy to make 39 saves. MacMillan made 20 stops to improve to 3-3-1 on the season.

\\\\``It's just great to see our team battle as hard as we did,\\\\`` said Sasner. \\\\``I thought Mankato played
really physical. They skated really well and showed a lot of speed. We couldn't be happier with the result.\\\\``

Wisconsin (9-6-2, 6-4-1 WCHA) and Minnesota State (4-8-1, 2-5-1 WCHA) meet again Saturday at the Dane County Coliseum. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m.

FOUR-GOAL THIRD NOT ENOUGH FOR GOPHERS TO OVERCOME BULLDOGS

Minnesota scored four goals in the third period but it wasn't enough to
overcome and early three-goal deficit as Minnesota-Duluth handed the Gophers
a 5-4 loss at Mariucci Arena.

The Bulldogs got goals early in the first and second period to take a 2-0
lead. For Gopher Jenny Schmidgall scored just 29 seconds into the game and
Maria Rooth scored 51 seconds into the second period. Schmidgall scored
again late in the second period and the visitors entered the final period
leading 3-0.

Laura Slominski scored short handed at 4:53 of the third period to start the
Minnesota rally and Nadine Muzerall followed less than two minutes later to
cut the lead to 3-2.

Brittny Ralph, another former Gopher, scored 24 seconds after Muzerall's
goal but Slominski added her second of the game at 8:56 to cut the lead to
one and Ambria Thomas scored short handed with 9:46 left in the third period
to tie the game.

The Bulldogs got the game winner with 8:50 left in the game as Ralph scored
on a blistering slapshot from the right faceoff circle.

UMD had a 37-22 advantage in shots on goal, including 30-13 in the final two
periods. Erica Killewald had 32 saves for Minnesota while Amanda Tapp had 18
saves for the Bulldogs.

The two teams meet again tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. at Mariucci Arena.
