Hello! Welcome to the Rhode Island Panthers Women's Hockey Homepage.
The Rhode Island Panthers are the only girls hockey league in Rhode Island
and has been running for about thirty years. The Panthers welcome women and
girls of all ages to join the teams ranging from squirts to senior leagues.
We regret to say that there is no mite team at the moment due to a small
amount of participants, this will hopefully change as the number of girl
hockey players grow. So if you are the least bit interested please do not
hesitate to join by notifying;

 Fred Miller
Phone: 401-944-3935

Remember the Panthers welcome all girls skilled or unskilled at any time of
the year (including summer where a summer house league takes place to keep
in shape for the next season!). Thank You.

A young coast guard man that plays roller hockey with me is being stationed
south of Norfolk. He would really appreciate any information on ice or roller
hockey in the area. Thanks.

Subject: Breast Cancer Stamp

Dear Friends,

This is not the usual message to women-in-hockey, but it is a very
important one. A mother, a friend of mine, who's child is in hockey, just
found out she has breast cancer. As women, this is a very important issue
for each of us.

PLEASE READ and pass along to ALL of your friends
and colleagues.

It is very IMPORTANT that each woman shows her support
to save ourselves, our mothers, our sisters, our friends.

Thank you for taking time out to READ this and also to PASS IT
ALONG.....

As you may be aware, the U.S. Postal Service recently released its new
Fund the Cure stamp to help fund breast cancer research. The stamp was
designed by Ethel Kessler of Bethesda, Maryland.

It is important that we take a stand and show our outrage against this
disease that kills and maims so many of our mothers, sisters, friends.
Instead of the normal .32 for a stamp, this one costs .40.

The additional .08 will go to breast cancer research. If all
stamps are sold, it will raise an additional 16,000,000 for this vital
research. Just as important as the money is our support. What a
statement it would make if the stamp outsold the lottery this week or
outsold tickets to "Saving Private Ryan" this weekend. What a
statement it would make that we care. I urge each of you to do
two things TODAY. Not tomorrow ... but today.

1. Go out and purchase some of these stamps. TODAY
2. E-mail, call, whatever it takes - ask your friends to do the same.

Wouldn't it be great to see our men supporting this to

TimesAn Open Letter to High School
and Jr. High Girls Hockey Players

I'd like to introduce myself and an exciting new hockey program
specifically for young women. My name is Bill Driscoll, and I am the
Director of Hockey and Head Coach for the Killington Mountain Academy
Women's Hockey Program. This is a new high-performance, competitive
hockey program specifically designed to provide a quality education for
a select group of athletes with a strong interest in competing at the
highest levels of hockey.=20

KMA Women's Hockey will start in the Fall of 1999 at the Killington
Mountain School (KMS) in Rutland, Vermont. Though new to hockey, KMS
has a rich 25 year history of developing competitive student-athletes
and placing them in colleges such as Dartmouth, Middlebury, St.
Lawrence, Boston College, UVM, UNH, U Colorado, Colby, Bates and
Harvard to name a few. Our goals for the hockey program are similar,
and also include creating a path to our national team for a few select
young athletes.

I have been involved in hockey since I graduated from Colby, and have
been coaching for many years at various levels, including USA Hockey
Regional Teams and Select Festivals. Currently manyformer players are
on rosters of Division I and II college teams, the U.S. National
Development Team, Major Junior Teams and many prep schools. I am a USA
Hockey Master Level Coach, and co-founder of the Foundation for Hockey
Development, with Bill Beaney, Head Coach of Middlebury College. I am
committed to teaching the game of hockey and developing young athletes,
and recently turned down positions with NHL Teams to launch this
special program.

Killington Mountain School provides a unique opportunity because it is
based on a tutorial program- this has academic and athletic benefits.
You attend your local school for the Fall and Spring months. In the
=46all and Spring, you're at your home school participating in sports,
interacting with friends at school and socially, and living with your
family. From November to early April, you attend KMS, where all
classes follow your home school curriculum.

=09

While at Killington Mountain School, you work with the tutorial staff
one-on-one in your classes. These teachers often can help in many ways
that aren't practical in a class setting, and you can expect to return
in the Spring with an academic standing equal to or better than your
classmates.=20

This tutorial program opens up tremendous training and competitive
advantages in hockey. We train more often and longer each day on the
ice than any high school or prep team- up to 2 hours on practice days
(usually 4/week), as well as daily physical training and conditioning.
Our competition schedule consists of 40-45 games, including six
tournaments culminating with the Brampton (Ont.) Women's Tournament.
The tutorial program also allows us more freedom to travel so we play
the best prep, select and international competition, as well as some
college teams. We attend the most competitive tournaments in the U.S.
and Canada. As you can see, this program is unique, and combined with
our location, affords maximum exposure to college coaches each season.

If this sounds like a program that you might be interested in, I would
welcome the chance to talk to you. You can call me directly at
802-253-7061, or the school at 802-422-3233. Please keep Killington
Mountain School in mind as you search for a means to reach your for
your education and athletic goals. I hope to hear from you soon. Good
luck and have a great season with =ABteam=BB.

Best,

Bill Driscoll, Director of Hockey
