I went on a college visit this past weekend to Northeastern University. I
watched one of the women's hockey practices (I play in Pittsburg and am
interested in playing in college next year) and a game against Brown
Univeristy. I have never seen any group with such talent. It amazed me!
There isnt hockey like that around here. Serious props to those women!!

IN RE:	1999 MAHA Elections/Team Representative

Who did you vote for in the last MAHA election? Good question?

Our organization has been conducting an independent investigation regarding
the duties of the person designated as "Team Representative." This
designation is located on the bottom of your USA Hockey Team Registration
form. This person, among other duties, receives a proxy to vote in the annual
MAHA (Michigan Amateur Hockey Associations). With MAHA elections coming up
shortly I thought that it was imperative to contact you immediately.

I ask you to think back to the previous years that you registered your team.
Have you ever voted in a MAHA election? Did you know that you had a RIGHT to
vote in the MAHA election? I can reasonably speculate that you have answered
NO to each of these questions. I can also reasonably speculate that you were
possibly presented with a Team Registration form that was already filled in on
your behalf. Do you recall who that person was? Was it the president of your
local hockey association, one of his designates or an individual from a
certain ice rink? I don't know about you but I feel that this is vote theft!
Stealing YOUR votes under the guise of "Team Representative" is an
unconscionable practice that tampers with the democratic process. The tyrants
that have ripped off your vote would have little problem believing that
"Hitler had some good ideas"too. This is the type of mentality that we're
dealing with.

Folks, this is an ineffective use of the numerous proxies entrusted to that
individual. We have an obligation to inform everyone of their right to vote
and elect MAHA officials of THEIR choice. I encourage you to immediately
instruct all the coaches in your organization to amend their "proxy" with the
"Team Representative" of their choice. Take back ownership in the process that
is rightfully YOURS . . . not the individual that filled in the form on your
behalf!

It is, in my opinion, a crime to permit any associations president (or
representative) carte blanc proxies to steal votes from USA Hockey teams and
coaches. I have encouraged MAHA and USA Hockey to intensify their effort in
the education of Coaches regarding the official role of the "Team
Representative" and their right to vote in the elections. Beginning with the
January 1999 edition of Blades & Tradesú, at no charge, I will authorize a
full-page ad for MAHA and/or USA Hockey solely for this purpose.

Regarding the role of the "Team Representative," I was pleased with the
results of my recent discussions with MAHA's Lowell McCoy. Yes, it may be a
responsible act of an association's president to fill in his name (as Team
Representative) on the team registration form if it is turned in and left
blank by the coach. But, everyone agrees that a prudent president would
inform that coach of that error and his/her right to vote in the state
election. When the coaches of an organization are not informed of their right
to assign the "team representative"of their choice (or given the option), are
intentionally not informed of their right to vote, and the form is already
(intentionally) filled in with the president's name . . . you cannot deny that
this is a fraudulent intent to steal their vote!

There are individuals that have engaged in this fraudulent practice for
decades and it must stop NOW! It is exactly this type of practice that puts
gomers and buffoons in office. In addition, what about the fact that one
individual can require that the men's leagues and high school teams register
under USA Hockey for the sole purpose of gaining additional proxies . . . what
the hell is going on here? This is cronyism. This should make you want to
puke!

Attached is a sample letter (Request to Rescind & Amend Team Representative)
which I encourage you to submit as soon as possible. Take back your voting
privileges in the MAHA election.

I want to personally thank each of you for taking the time to address these
issues. If you feel it is necessary to contact me, please call me at
888-776-5079.

Sincerely,
Al Clemens

Michelle,
My daughter Jessica (age 12--#77--defence) and I are looking forward to
seeing our first live ECAC women's ice hockey game this weekend in
Princeton at 1:00 PM. The UNH Wildcats are playing the Princeton Tigers
and we are looking forward to having a great time. Later that evening Jess
will be playing in nearby Lawrenceville where her girls' team, the Old York
Road Raiders, from Elkins Park PA, will be playing against the
Lawrenceville 19 and under girls' team. So we are looking to a full day of
great hockey! Will report into the list about our experience, if all goes
well, on Monday.
