Well, the Hayley Wickenheiser story finally hit the Phiadelphia Inquirer
today. It was basically the same story taken off the wire. But if they
printed it in Philly, it must be true. Either that, or the Flyers and
Sixers are out of the playoffs, and the Phillies are doing poorly.

People know your facts. Hayley is not small. She is 5:9 and 170lbs.
Sure body checks look like they hurt on tv but it doesn't hurt as much
as you think. Trust me. I have been run over by some guys that think
there so cool, because they can hit a girl. I honestly think there
aren't many guys that would play dirty and pick on a girl whether it be
Cammie, Manon, or Hayley. You must also remember that Hayley has played
with the boys all her life. She has had a lot of practise checking and
we all know how much she loves it. The only teams that she has been on
without checking are the Oval Extreme and the National team. Plus,
Hayley my not be as big as some of the players in the NHL but she has
the heart to play with them. She knows if she can do it, and if she can
I know that she'll survive.

It's going to take a lot more than heart. Don't these words mean anything to you? Bone density, muscle mass, testosterone. Even Hayley knows she couldn't play with the men in the NHL why can't the rest of you see it? Never going to happen and if it does it's a huge mistake. They will absolutely get hurt. For any woman who has ever been on the ice with guys you know that even if you can skate circles around them they can still shoot harder and hit harder. The men's game is too different than the women's game. They shouldn't mix.

Subject: USA Numbers 1997

I pulled out my registration numbers for 1997 (1998 will be out in June) for the United States. USA Hockey registered 18,580 females in 1996-97 season. Minnesota registered 5,011, Massachusetts 3,285; Michigan 2,422, New York 2,377; Wisconsin 1,263 for the top five states. These numbers do not include Minnesota's high school hockey program (which numbers approximately 2,400 females), and some of the United States colleges, who do not register with USA Hockey because they have their own insurance programs. In addition, I just received information at the Midwest Collegiate Women's Hockey Alliance meeting that shows in 1997-98 there were 29 college varsity women's teams. The projections for 1998-99 are 39 varsity teams and 39 college club teams. The 39 varsity teams break down into 15 Division I teams, 3 Division II teams, and 20 Division III teams. We are certainly getting closer to the magic 40 varsity programs for a NCAA championship if they count all three divisions. I will post the numbers for 1997-98 after they are provided to us in June.

I don't think that any philly papers have reported this yet. Perhpas they are
waiting until the time that she does take the ice with the flyers.

That is more the case they don't usually report on any women's sport here form
what I have read in the papers and seen on the news.

WHOA WHOA WHOA!.... I'm very sorry if i affened you. I just thought it was a
cute joke i found on a message board.... It wasn't ment as a comment. My
personal feelings had absolutly nothing to do with it.
I DO HAVE MORALS, I DO RESPECT PEOPLE! And you say i'm the one who's bein
offensive. I didn't mean anything by it. It wasn't supposed to be taken that
way.
<> Well, have you ever been to Toronto at
night?
I'm not saying any thing bad about Canada, I never would.
I just didn't realise anyone whould get all huffed up over some stupid joke.
Alll i can say is I'm sorry, and ive done that 3 times by now.

In a message dated 98-05-27 07:45:19 EDT, you write:

<< This is absolutally not true and it is taken very offensivly. Canada
might have an arena in ever town big or small, but not everyone plays
hockey. We use the ice to keep it so damn cold up here. We preserve
our land by freezing it. Also whore's in Canada? Nice try!!! Not near
as many as in the States. Canadians are not perfect but we do have
morals and we do respect other people. I have lived here all my life
and never have I seen any whores.

Further more. Please keep your comments to yourself if you think they
might be offensive to anyone else. We respect you please respect us.

in a while.
Hang in there Pollyanna.....just keep taking those humor pills, you gotta get
your blood level up to see some results!...Its tough being one of the humor
AND hockey challenged...but we don't hold it against ya!....ROFL!!!
