>Is there anyone out there who was at the Rinko de Mayo tourney in
>Rancho Cordova last weekend? Unfortunately, I had to leave Sun.
>afternoon before the playoffs, so I wondered if anyone could tell me
>who the A pool champions were? Thanks!

Yes, I was at the inline tournament. I played for the Toronto Franklin
Typhoon. We won the tournament! I'll be getting the complete results
for the tournament shortly and I will put them on my web page at:
   http://www.cs.utoronto.ca/~andria/inline/tourney/1998/rinko.html

The tournament was a great success! There were 12 women's teams in the
B division and 10 in the A division. The B division games took place
before the A division, and the top two teams from the B division were
promoted to the A division (so there were actually 12 teams that
competed in the A division).

Both divisions were divided into 3 pools. The top team in each pool
and the team with the next highest record advanced to the semi-finals.
The winner of the semi-finals competed in the championship game.

B Division Finals:
  Semi-final 1: Team Easton "B" 2 -vs- Silicon Valley Quakes 1
  Semi-final 2: Black Widows 2 -vs- El Nino 3
Championship: Team Easton "B" 0 -vs- El Nino 2

A Division Finals:
  Semi-final 1: Team Easton "A" ? -vs- Redding Roadrunners ?
Semi-final 2: Toronto Typhoon 6 -vs- West Coast Revolution 2
Championship: Toronto Typhoon 9 -vs- Team Easton "A" 1

I remember a few of the individual awards for the A division because
some of our team members were involved in them. If you know the other
people who won individual awards please send me their names by e-mail
and I'll put them up on the women's hockey web pages.

A Division Individual Awards:
 Teams in Playoffs:
Championship Game MVP: Geraldine Heaney, Toronto Franklin Typhoon
Tournament High Scorer: Andria Hunter, Toronto Franklin Typhoon
Goalie Award: K. Washburn? , Team Easton "A"

 Teams not in Playoffs:
Goalie Award: Sami Jo Small, Rennegades

 Tournament All-Star Team:
Coley Dosser, Forward, Toronto Franklin Typhoon
  ? , Forward,
  ? , Defense,
  ? , Defense, Team Easton "A"
  ? , Goalie,

One of the highlights of the tournament for me was that Manon Rheaume,
who organized the tournament, invited my team over to her place for a
BBQ and party after the championship game! She has a nice place & has
lots of neat hockey memorabilia. She's getting married next month (to
Gerry St-Cyr).

The other highlight was visiting San Francisco! We found a nice
fisherman who took us to the Golden Gate Bridge and to Alcatraz.
It was a lot of fun and finally the weather started to cooperate! :-)

Hi all
This posting is for women in the Long Island area. The New York Islanders
will be using women 18 + for between periods on ice activitied in the coming
season. They are looking for a woman to coordinate the skaters on 25-30 game
nights as well as being available for meetings and possessing some creative
ability. This is a position that will require a good deal of evening work
during the season.

If you are interested please email me privately.
THanks and I look forward to hearing from y ou.

If anyone on the list has any Cammi Granato cards available, please email
me a list with prices. I'm especially looking for the 1994 Classic W37
card. I need about 5 of these. Other cards will be considered also. Please
send complete description, number, and year if possible.

Any other paraphernalia on Team USA considered as well! Will pay nicely for
the right item!

Thanks!

Thanks Reggie and Andria,

I was guessing that the Typhoon would be the eventual champions,
especially
after playing them Sunday morning and having the 'mercy rule' (10 goal
differential) enacted early in the 2nd! The tournament was awesome, it
was
really well planned and a great experience.
BTW, congratulations Andria!
Annie, Water City Sirens (although I played
for El Nino against the Typhoon)

Subject: Attention: Ice Hockey Players on AOL

A few of us die-hards in the Roller Hockey MiniForum (Key word:
Rolllerhockey), part of the Roller/Inline Skating forum on AOL, are involved
in
amateur or youth ice hockey as well. We have ventured over to the Grandstand
Ice hockey area, and found that there is an active community there- but it is
geared more to the pro hockey FAN, not the player. We are trying to rectify
that, and start a small forum that will be linked to**** both the ICE and
roller hockey areas, for the HOCKEY PLAYER.**** Many of the skills, and
equipment needs, and other things about both sports are similar, and for those
of us involved in both sports, we thought it would be nice to have some common
ground, AND a place to talk about or share info on playing ice hockey. We have
tried to respect the Roller Skating area's integrity- and NOT mention ice
hockey much there.... so a new place is in order.

Please email me if you are interested in an area on AOL like this- and I'll
get
back with you on the details, and some stuff we need to get it up and running-
I don't want to totally spam this newsgroup with an even longer post.
Thanks!

If you've always wanted to try (inline) rollerhockey, here is your chance!!

The Brooklyn Blades' summer women's/girl's roller hockey at Riverbank State
Park (145th St. and Riverside Drive in NYC) starts June 2! It's FREE for all
women and girls. Session is from 6pm to 9pm every Tuesday.

Some instruction/drills are run. Program is informal - emphasis is on FUN!!
Drop by for entire session or just part. (Last summer younger players tended
to come early, older players later.)

Stick, skates, brain-bucket, shinpads all required -- more pads welcome, but
it's not rough. It's a nice NHL sized rink - smooth surface. (With a roof!!)

ALL LEVELS WELCOME!!

1/9 Subway stop nearby. Also buses and lots of parking!!
