Minnesota!!! Ran like crazy all through the tourney and jumped on a
plane
almost the minute it was over. Sorry.

Just got home. Wish I had a laptop, as I would have sent a posting.
Haven't closely checked my mail to see if any results have been posted.
If so, please forgive. I have 400 posts to sort through. As it was,
even when I was in town during the tourney I had little time at home to
use my PC. Many apologies as all teams in the tourney made a great
showing and deserved recognition for their efforts.

...notes of interest to those in the Pac Dist.

Total of 15 teams this year!!!

5 U12 - NorCal Blue Diamonds won
2 U15 - Alaska Firebirds won
4 U19 - SJHA Northwest Admirals won
4 Sr. B - AK Bladerunners won
(With Team CA hosting Nationals in Anaheim, every State offering
Girls/Women teams in the Pac Dist will have a team at Nationals this
year. A first. Good Luck to all and lets keep it going.)

A reception (i.e. spaghetti feed) was attended by 400 people. This
event was a particularly nice touch as we had a wonderful view of the
setting sun on Mt. McKinley.

Marilyn Kerr, with no previous experience putting on a tourney of any
type, astounded everyone by putting together one of the finest
tournaments that anyone could remember. Include amongst those
impressed, many that have been to/participated in quality tournaments
for Youth at District/Regional/National levels. Many thanks to Marilyn
and the scores of others that helped her.

Another round of thanks to the women that traveled up here to
officiate. Though the tournament was substantially larger than last
year, there were few complaints, save some questions on goal/no goal
calls. This is a repeat issue for U19 and goal judges are needed.

I think the most notable thing I saw during the tourney was the spirit
of friendship. Though we hoped for this, you can never really be sure
how it will come off. In our travels to MN over the last few years, we
have always been given a warm welcome. Friendship and the opportunity
to play have been more important than who wins. We tried to emulate
this atmosphere and I hope we were successful and would like to thank
all for coming and welcome you all back again in a couple/few years. I
would also like to extend an offer to help out in any way we can with
next years tourney, which is almost certain to grow quite substantially!

Lyle Anderson, AK Firebirds

PS to Chuck - See ya in Anaheim! Congrats

Over the past weekend, Team Illinois 15 or unders defeated the Wisconsin
Challengers in a best-of-three series to represent the Central District at
next week's USA Hockey Nationals in Anaheim.

Game one went to the tough Wisconsin team in triple overtime. Team Illinois
rebounded the next day and took the game 2-1 in the fourth overtime. That set
the stage for Sunday's winner-take-all finale. Tied 0-0 after regulation,
Team Illinois' Kattie Anderson put home a rebound early into the first
overtime to send Illinois' first ever girl's team to the Nationals.

Congratulations to the girls from Team Illinois!!!

congratulations to team illinois!! however, this information is not entirely
accurate. my daughter played for the shootings stars, and she went to
Nationals three years in a row from 1991-1993. she also had to play in a
regional tournament.

I just received a brochure on this summer hockey program.
Has anyone attended their program? What you thought about
it? Pros and Cons about it.

Thanks,
