I disagree on the Cooper women's shoulder pads, although I agree in
general that you just need to try lots of things on and see which
       fit you the best.

I started with men's shoulder pads, and they were too wide across
the chest. I find the Coopers very protective (I play with both men
and women, and have never had any problems with these pads.). I
wear men's pants though, since the women's I've tried are too short
for my taste, and I don't like the padding. Lots of women on my
       women's team like them, though.

       Good luck!
       Jan.

Hi!
Has anyone else heard that the University of Wisconsin-Madison
will be voting on moving the women's team up to varsity level soon? I
heard that it will probably go through too. I also heard that Cammi
Granato is interested in coaching. If anyone can confirm this, it would
be much appreciated. Thank you!

<< What did you expect her to say, "My boy did that, I'll make sure that
never happens again!" This goes on all the time. You wouldn't believe the
things we hear after playing against boys teams. Although now, I guess you
would. I think this kind of stuff comes from the home. I doubt there are
many "normal" coaches who would want one of their players responsible for
injuring a child. Or am I being naive?

This is where a "Handycam" comes in handy. Since I've been sidelined with an
injury for about a month, I've been videotaping all of our games. When
watching the playback, I was surprised to see how much goes on. We only play
other girls and women;s teams, so there is none of that "get the girl" crap,
and very few things appear to be truly malicious. But, if things are as bad
as you say, then a camcorder is the answer. It may not help during the game,
but perhaps to show specific parents or coaches aftewards. (HINT: I found
that it is much easier to follow a player with the camera than to follow the
puck.)

To add to the thread re Cereal Boxes, the following is a definitive
explanation re Cereal Box storage and preservation from the March 1998
Beckett Sports Collectibles and Autographs:

Boxes typically are collected in three forms: full and unopened; opened and
resealed; or folded flat. Each form is widely accepted and a matter of
personal preference. The Price Guide refers to Mint boxes in any of these
forms. Mint boxes must not have any abrasions, creases, dents, stains or
tears. We do not recommmend long term storage of full boxes due to
potential problems with cereal degradation or vermin infestation.
Collectors who open and reseal boxes often use styrofoam "peanuts" or
similar shipping material as filler. Sometimes unfolded factory boxes
appear on the market; these factory flats" may attract a slight premium.
Many boxes were issued in multiple box sizes, or with minor variations such
as different side panels or mail-in-offers. Such variations are listed only
if they affect value.

Hope this helps!

I'd just like to thank everyone who responded to an e-mail I sent out a few
weeks ago, subject "Where do I go from here". Thanks to those responses, I
found a hockey team. I had my first practice last night with the COGWHA
Capitals and loved it! And I'll be participating in my first tournament in
April so I'm psyched. I really appreciate all of the words of
encouragement that I received from people on this list. There really is
hockey after college!

Subject: Olympic hockey jersey

Hi all,

I would like to buy a Canadian Olympic jersey with my favorite player's
name and number on it (hint - she plays defence for team Canada).

I have looked at a few web sites and found some prices but wanted to see if
anyone knew of a great place they would recommend. River City Sports in
Winnipeg has quoted me $120 for a mid-weight, and Hot of the Ice (which I
have had a bad experience with) quoted aound $130 (though they aren't doing
them yet).

Any suggestions welcome! CHA offers the jerseys but doesn't letter them,
they offer heavyweight flo-knits for $89.95

Thanks in advance for your time and help.
