It really depends on the people you are playing against. When I first
started, I played against college varsity guys and other guys at open
skate, and I got plenty of bruises using my forward gear. I actually
improvised with soccar shin guards, volleyball knee pads, and the like for
my forearms, used my forward pants, forward skates, regular helmet, and
borrowed goalie pads. Eventually, once I fell in love with it and knew
there was no turning back (2 months later), I began getting real goalie
gear beginning with cheap gloves. Back then, Cooper was cheap and ok for
protection. Right now, I don't really know what would be ok, as I now buy
professional level gear. If you know of someone or some league where you
can borrow stuff, that would be the cheapest route. If not, go for pads
and gloves first, followed by whatever seems to be getting nailed the most,
depending on your budget and level of play. Good luck, I remember VERY
fondly my first forays into the area between the pipes!!

Oops, there was an error in the last message i posted, the result of the
following game was wrong, it should be:
  25.03.98 FŸssen 19:30 France - Germany 0:10

The last spot of WWC99 goes to Russia!
The Russian Women defeated the Norwegians 6:1 (1:0,4:1,1:0) at Zuchwil
(Switzerland).
It was a onesided game, as Norway managed to fire not more than 15 times on
Russian net. Russia had everything under control for the hole game, but the
looked very tired.

The Womens World Championship Group A 1999 in Finland, will be held with

Thanks to all from the list who have ordered t-shirts from the Women's Hockey World web
site... they are going fast and more designs are are the way!

Just wanted to update ya'll on some additions.

First, I am proud to have local northwest artist, David Dayley, displaying his
one-of-a-kind wooden hockey clocks on the Women's Hockey World site. His passions for
wood carving and hockey is wonderful!

Also, in the next few months there will be women hockey watches available!

Thanks again! And if you are looking for a specific item for women's hockey, drop me
and line and I'll work on it!
