Maybe for men. My CCM skates are 3 sizes smaller than my shoe size [size
6 1/2 skates, size 9 1/2 shoes], and it was a close call between the size
6 and the 6 1/2. It's really best to try them on.

YES!! Try them on. And make sure the sales dude (or dudette) knows what they
are talking about!!

I normally wear a women;s 8- 8 1/2 and a 6 61/2 if I wear men;s sneakers. So
I thought a 6 or 6 1/2 skate would be right. In the CCM's I ended up with a
5 1/2!! If the slaes rep did not know what they were doing, I probably would
have gone for the 6 1/2 (much more comfortable in the shop!!) But, as it
turns out, it was obviously not the right fit!!) It also saved me a wad of
dough, becuase that put me into the kiddie sizes!!! :-)

Keep in mind, each manufacturer is different. In the Nike skates, I am a size
5.

Hope this helps save someone from getting blisters form wearing the wrong size
skate!!

One drawback with the women's 852s though, is that there are no
'kiddie sizes' - all sizes are adult price. I think the fit was worth
     it, though.

Subject: Ithaca

Looking for a college is a rigorous process. I've been through it twice
now (I'm in grad school). I am currently living in Ithaca, NY. I member
of the list mentioned that Ithaca did not have a team. Well, if you are
referring to Cornell University, they have an incredible women's team that
does very well in the Ivy League every year. I am not eligible to play
(becaue of grad student status), but I know there are excellent women's
programs both within the university and within the city. There are three
rinks in Ithaca and they're all open 24 hours a day!! Hockey bliss, eh?

If you are referring to Ithaca College, I can not be of assistance. I am
sure there is hockey available at that school, but probably not the
varsity level. Not being able to play for my school (or even having the
opportunity) is tough on me so I can understand why a good varsity team is
important you. Best of luck,
