Subject: Scared out of my Skull

See, heres the thing, I'm starting a hockey school/ camp type thing monday,
and it'll be mostly younger guys that have played before and me a girl who's never actualy played on
ice before.... Heck i'm just finifhing getting my equipment this weekend.
I have a few questions, 1) how do you put all this stuff on? I don't want to
look stupid, but how do you put the stupid sox on? No i haven't gotten them
yet and yes it may be on the package but still. 2) does anyone know where to
get the "Jill" in Metro-Detroit/ Oakland County area? I've
looked all over the place for one.3) what should i expect?

Thanx in advance for atleast trying to calm my overreactive nerves.

protction there. As a goaile I take quite a few shot to the innner
thigh. In Fact last night at hockey I took one there again, Now I have a
bruise that is bigger than the puck. So to everyone out there please
help me! What do you wear there is there a specil pad I can get? Or is
just finding the right pair of pants?

Thanks
Carmen Mc Donald

P.S

Hi Lyle

Yes you are right I do not wear goalie pants. I did not realize that
there was that much diffrence in the inner thigh area. I had tried a
pair of goalie pants once but could not find a pair that fit right in
the hips.
This is another problem that a lot of the pants are made for guys who do
not have any hips. Thanks for the tip Lyle I will diffently look into
finding a better pair of pants. Hopefully a pair of goalie pants.

Thanks

Hi!!

I'm new to the list!! My name is Katie and I've been playing hockey for less
than a year. I'm having a ton of fun, and though being 16 years old and
first time
hockey player I am fitting in rather well!!

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has any drills or whatever that I can do
outside on my roller blades w/ stick to improve my stick handling, as being
an
ex-figure skater skating isn't my concern. I just complete Turcotte, which
is a stick
handling camp, and it definately helped.

As for the Jill discussion, I've worn one since day one, when I went into
our store, they have like on women's chest protector, and we'll I couldn't
see a jill.. Just ask
the ppl who work there, you may be surprised. I havn't found it
uncomfortable and I've gotten hooked there a few times and was extremely
grateful that I had it on..

Thanxs for listing!!

Katie

OK, gang - there are a MILLION other names out there for the pelvic protector
that soem of us are (affectionetly) calling the "Jill."

How about - Girl-Jock, muff-guard, or saucer. (The last one is credited to
one of the defensemen on the Blades who coined this term for the purpose of
her stand-up comedy act. I think it's pretty good - "cup" for guys "saucer"
for girls.)

(Just think of all those poor SOB's out there named "richard" and you can see
why this irks me, and otehr hockey playing Jills everywhere.)

Since women's hockey is jsut starting to become more popular, perhaps we can
nip this nasty name in the bud, before it gets totally outta control.

Thank you for your support. =D
