Congratulations on the baby! One thing that could counteract some of the
sleep deprivation Anne was talking about (besides a placid baby) is having the
father take some of the child care responsibilities off your hands in the
evening. My father did exactly that after I was born - he would feed me, give
me a bath, and put me to bed while my mother had a few hours to sleep, read,
bathe, or sew. He did *not* allow Mum to do housework during this time (about
two hours every night), but insisted she have the time to do as she pleased.
Dad felt it was his responsibility to help, and Mum, no fool, avoided the
exhaustion and resentment that so many women felt (and unfortunately still
feel) because they're the sole caregivers. Result: a rested mother, an
excellent relationship between father and daughter that lasted until his
death, and a much happier family.

Another thing I've head helps: keep the baby in your room. It will make the
late night feedings much easier if one of you has to walk two feet rather than
ten....

Can anyone tell me if Laura Halldorson coaches the University of Minnesota
women's hockey team?
Thanks.

Radio this morning said they are expecting in excess of 17,000.
Sounds like it is going to be great!!!

My husband had the opportunity to meet some members of the National
Team. He was at the airport in San Francisco (I think that is where he
landed) after the game on the 16th when he noticed the hockey gear and
the women. He ran over and asked if they were who he thought then he
asked who won the game (I had to tape the last two periods - could not
stay awake). He exchange high fives and wished them luck. He was
suprised at how small and feminine they were. ( I have already
discussed this issue with him and discovered he believes every
stereotype about female hockey players - until he realized he was
married to one!!!!!!) He did however to remember to wish them luck in
Japan. He then mentioned his wife would kill him because she is a big
fan and that I had several sets of the upper deck cards but he had none
with him to get autographs.

Lesson to be learned:
Send collector cards with spouse where ever he travels!

Dave-

I know how to say Roy, but it's hard to 'say' it online. The way you
spelled it makes a bit more sense though. Thanks! I'll use that whenever I
need to 'pronounce' his name.
