Jessica - check out this web site and it will tell you how to stretch
that muscle - which can become short and strain easily when skating
and/or running a lotÉ

http://www.cleveland.com/living/health/fitness/legsbuns/one.html

It is very important to take care of all muscles and stretch a lot
before exercising. If your coach cannot help you with these stretches,
he or she is not doing his or her job completely - feel free to direct
your coach to this website - it may have more to offer than just hip
flexor stretches!

Good luck -

So now that I've finally figured out what's been bothering me for the past few
weeks, will someone tell me specific stretches for that part of the body?

  Amy,

It is not uncommon for goaltenders to get phone calls for fill in's. I
once got a call from a police officer who asked if I would play for a law
enforcement benefit for the police team opposing his. I've gone to tournaments
just to watch and brought my gear just in case and ended up being asked to
play as I was getting out of my car on the parking lot of the rink before I
ever even had a chance to look inside. Goalies are a hot commodity when they
are known for being willing to play against anyone anytime.

I would not suggest taking everything you get offered. I have had some
bad times. Ever played with people who have NEVER (and I do mean never) skated
before? I didn't to stand anywhere near the goal. And that ever so popular
cockyness I get every so often cost me a pair of good goalie pants when a
friend asked me to fill in with another opposing team (he decided to show me
why he had been playing in the canadien minors for six years as he took a wind
up and ripped a 100 mi. an hour slap shot that broke the plastik in my thigh
on my pants and left a perfect impression of a flat puck in the form of a
bruise on my upper thigh.) ...Then there was the time I ... oh... sorry...
anyway be careful! and have fun!!

The Lion roars and the ice melts from the smell of garlic on his breath...

Bryndlion

p.s. Every goalie is a special breed of their own take that as you will but
always remember it there aren't any goalies that can do what you can do.

Thunder Bay House League Tournament
Novice (?) Atom, Peewee, Bantam(?), Midget
B/C level teams
November 6, 7, 8
Thunder Bay Tournament Center

*depends on our registration if we have Novice and Bantam divisions
otherwise this age of girl plays up on the next level of team
*although there may be a senior division, it is most likely that a senior
only tournament will be held in December.

We are also inquiring to see if any Senior A Level teams would be interested
in coming to Thunder Bay for a tournament, and if there is interest, the
league would try and get a weekend of ice for it.

Thanks
