Hi. I'm new to this site, having just found it. I have completed my first
season with the Chicago Ice and have moved into a spring league 12-game mini-
season. I've been asked to write an article for a local hockey newsletter
about women that play hockey. My intention is to write an article based on
the diversity of the lives of women that play, and the fact that hockey brings
them together in a unified group. Any ideas, or info, would be useful.

Thanks. Looking forward to hearing from other women hockey players.

Rich's list of College Hockey Programs is great and is also reachable via
Andria's page. I was
wondering if anyone has done a similar list of prep schools that have
Womens's hockey programs. There are quite a few in the northeast, but I
have no idea what is available elsewhere.
If there is no list out there, I would be willing compile and repost one.
Please email me any info you have.

Jackie Barto's
Women's Collegiate Ice Hockey Camp

June 15 - 19, 1998
9:00 am to 3:00 pm daily
Eble Park Ice Arena
Brookfield, WI

$350 per skater

Camp Director
Camp Director Jackie Barto is in her fourth season as Head Coach of the
Providence College Women's Ice Hockey Team. Barto, who achieved success as
a player and an assistant coach at Providence, has led the Lady Friars to
great heights during her first three seasons as a head coach. A 1984
graduate of Providence, Jackie was one of the most prolific scorers in
school history - she was inducted into the Providence College Athletic Hall
of Fame in 1997. As Head Coach she led the Lady Friars to the 1995 ECAC
Conference Championship and was named the New England Hockey Writer's Coach
of the Year. Jackie also serves as the head women's Field Hockey coach at
Providence.

Assistant Director
Wisconsin native Sue Mussey is the assistant camp director and goaltending
instructor. She is the Associate Head Coach of the Women's Ice Hockey Team
at Providence College. Sue was the first ever female goalie at Madison
(WI) LaFollette High School. In her four years at Providence, Sue helped
lead the women's ice hockey team to ECAC titles in 1984 and 1985. In 1985
she earned Providence's Female Athlete of the Year award, was the ECAC
Tournament Most Valuable Player, and was an ECAC All-Star. A standout
goalie, Sue compiled a 32-15-5 career record at Providence.

Instructors
Camp instructors and counselors will be current and former Providence
College Players and Coaches. NCAA rules prohibit the use of collegiate
athletes names for promotional purposes, so we are not allowed to list our
instructors. We will strive to maintain a 3 to 1 player to instructor
ratio throughout the camp.

The Hockey Program
Campers will be divided into instructional groups as Squirts (12 and under)
and Midgets/PeeWees (M/PW, 19 and under). We will do our best to break out
girls based on age, skill, experience and size. Camp Director reserves the
right to move campers into the group which best suits the camper's skills
and abilities. Camp Director also retains the right to terminate the
enrollment of any camper when deemed to be in the best interest of both the
camper and the camp.

Lunch will not be provided, so campers must bring their own healthy bag
lunch. Full hockey gear will be required at all times during on ice
sessions. Athletic shoes, t-shirts, shorts, and sweats are recommended for
off ice sessions. Additionally, bring an extra hockey stick for off ice
sessions - sticks you are not afraid to bang up.

The camp is non-profit, any profits will be distributed to coaches,
instructors, and local hockey programs.
