I apologize for listing this publically, but there was no personal e-mail
address listed.

I don't know what level you are looking for, but there are women's collegiate
clubs in the midwest. Included in the Central Collegiate Women's Hockey
Association are:
Michigan State University
Western Michigan University
University of Michigan
Lake Forest College (IL)
University of Illinois
Bowling Green State University
Ohio State University
University of Wisconsin
Again, it is not Varsity, but it is competitive, and a few of the teams have
submitted their applications for Varsity status.
Of course this is just something for your knowledge to put away until you are
college - age. Just thought you might like to know. Good luck on your search.
Let me know if you need anything else, like a contact.

Great idea - even if they do it at 3:00 am, we can all video the
games.
I'm heading right for ESPN's web site now!

Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone knows if any of these games are going to be
televised in the US by a US network? If not, maybe the US people here on the
list can put a plug in for it on ESPN's web site!
http://espnet.sportszone.com/subscriber/contact.html
They have TWO regular sports programming stations. I'm sure they can find
time between the world's strongest man competition (guys pulling 747's with
their teeth) and useless college basketball games (Middle Tennessee State vs
Grambling) to air a few of the games!!
Come on people, let's put the heat on em!!! :-)

I am posting this to the list as a favor for my teammate on the MN Blue J's:
Dear Hockey Enthusiasts in Boston, Massachusetts:
Hi! My name is Robin Marvin, and I am the head girl's hockey coach at
Cretin-Derham Hall High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Hockey for girls and
women has experienced tremendous growth in Minnesota over the last three
years. The high school league expanded from eight teams in 1993-4 to 68 teams
in 1996-7. Cretin-Derham Hall has been a part of this growth for the last two
years, and now we want to take our talent out to the East.
I am aware of the rich tradition of girls hockey on the East Coast at both the
prep school and collegiate level. It is that tradition and competition I
desire to share with my young hockey team. During winter break 1997 (December
29, 30, 31, 1997) we are seeking three teams in the Boston area to play
against. If there are any coaches, players or parents who would like to share
in this experience please post a reply to the list or to email@hidden.
You can also write or call me directly:

Hi Kenneth:
I'm on your side!!
You would think that these sports networks would pick up on the fact that
Women's Hockey is the fastest growing sport in North Anerica, so there must
be some interest out there for spectators !!
I have already sent my "two cents" worth in to ESPN.
Here in Canada, the TSN network has agreed to cover two games. This was
after much pestering. They will cover the Canada/Russia game Tues. Apr. 1,
and the Gold Medal game on Sunday Apr. 6
I guess we should be thankfull for that at least, but lets not give up on
putting pressure on the other networks to cover this very entertaining sport.
Thanks for starting this thread.

Robin-
I am writing from Seattle, Washington. I coach a midget team here. I would
suggest you go to the Connecticut (very close to Boston) Polar Bear Holiday
Tournament. I just happens to be during the dates you mentioned. We
travelled to CT this year for the tournament and had a wonderful time! I
can't praise it enough... great hospitality, great competition and well
run.
If you would ever like to come out to the Seattle area, we could also get
three plus games for you to play (with us, the Canadians etc.) with no
problem. We are always happy to have teams from across the U.S. to compete
against. Seattle is a wonderful city and a great place to visit.
Good luck! And let me know if you need more information.

I am a HS senior who wants to continue hockey in college whether it would be
division I or a club team. If anyone knows of any intense summer camps
that trains high school/college girls, please contact me. Any information
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
