What is the snail mail address of the OWHA? I have not read the book, but
unless the author has made serious accusations about individuals'
characters or actions, I think they need some feedback.

I went to this tourney on Saturday and it was some awesome hockey.
Both games were fast paced and just fun to watch. Unfortunately there
wasn't a huge crowd, which was disappointing considering the teams that
particpated....It may be due to advertising or promotion? I heard
about the tourney on this list, but did not read about it anywhere
else. These games are great.
Does anyone know the scores of Sunday's games? and who won the tourney?
Is there a schedule of women's college games?
And does anyone know if there is a web site, or a schedule for the
Women's national teams? their games and scrimmages...

Hi everyone,
I have enjoyed reading all the letters from girls' hockey from all over North America!
I never realized how much all the organizers have to go through. My daughter is 16 and
plays on a team of girls ages 12-16, she really loves it, and is glad she switched over
from ringuette 2 years ago. We live on the West Island of Montreal, and she plays in
the Lakeshore Hockey organization.
I would like some info on the book I see being mentioned, "On the Edge". Do you have an
author's name? I'd like to try to find it. And did someone mention last week re: a
women's hockey magazine, or was I just dreaming? Keep up the good work, everyone, and
thanks in advance for any info you can send my way!!

What ages are the players for these two teams and where
are their home rinks? Are these both "B" teams? If yes,
are they strong B? Do these teams play girls teams ages
12-18? Who does the game scheduling? Just curious ....

Hi folks!

Just in case some of you hadn't heard, Women's Hockey magazine just
launched its first issue this month. It's a news magazine -- the
first ever -- to cover our game from the minor hockey level up to the
national teams. Reaction from readers is starting to come in...and
it's been very positive!

As managing editor for Canada I have been deluged with media calls
from print, radio and television!! It's been unbelievable. I guess
with the world championships coming up in April and the Olympics next
year, the media are starting to take a serious interest in our sport.

If anyone wants to check out our first issue, call toll free 1 800 807

U.S.

Philadelphia's B team (and A team) skate out of the University of =
Pennsylvania Class of '23 Ice Arena. The South Jersey Grizzlies skate =
out of Hollydell Ice Arena (don't know what city) in South New Jersey. =20

Both are women's Sr. teams. As far as if they are strong B teams, it =
depends on what you mean by "B". They play in the B division of the =
league, while the A teams that play in the A division of the league are =
at the Sr. B level at the USA Hockey level. So at the national level, =
for tournaments I suppose you could classify these teams as being at the =
Sr. D level. There is a large difference in skill level between the =
league's A and B divisions.

Hope this answers your questions. What team do you play on? Let me =
know if you are interested in contact numbers.

I'm very interested in getting involved (at least, in some capacity) with
your magazine, but I'm not sure what type of content you're incorporating
into your publication. I'm going to give a call and subscribe to the
magazine sometime later this week, but I'd also be interested in putting
together some articles.

A little background...
I'm the manager of the Cornell University women's ice hockey team (Varsity,
Div I, ECAC, Ivy) and have been involved with the sport for almost four
years. I have direct contacts with most ECAC teams and would be more than
willing to provide you with ECAC league updates, box scores, statistics,
records, special reports, or what-have-you. I'm not exactly sure what you
would be looking for, but I'd be more than willing to help. Please let me
know a little bit more...

Thanks -

I'm going to be in Philadelphia for a conference from March 1 - 5.
I'd love to take in a hockey game while I'm there, if possible.
I saw where the Flyers are playing at home that Wednesday night,
but A) I probably can't afford their tickets, and B) I'd rather
see women play!

I'll be staying at the Marriott downtown and won't have a car. Does
anyone know if there will be any games - college, or whatever? They'll
either need to be within walking distance, or easy to get to via
public transportation. (You may laugh at me ... I have no idea what
to expect in downtown Philadelphia!)

Thanks in advance,

Hi Kelly:

Congratulations on the new magazine. I'm looking forward to getting my
hands on a copy. At any rate, I'm writing to see if you'd like to
incorporate a story on women's inline hockey in your magazine.

Fact of the matter is, I just completed a feature story on women's inline
hockey for Inline Hockey News (to be featured in the March issue). It's
exploding in the U.S as much as the ice game is, and will continue to do
so. It seems that the two sports go hand in hand . . . the ice game gives
the sport its high profile (ie. Nagano Olympics debut), while inline hockey
brings the sport to the neighborhoods at the grassroots level.

I'd be happy to send any clips your way. I'm the former editorial assistant
of Inline Hockey News, and currently a freelance writer based out of
Denver, CO.
My phone number is 303-861-8478. Feel free to call at any time.

Thank you and I'll talk to you soon.

HI MIKE...We're a magazine and we like to run interesting stories,
articles with a longer shelf life than a daily newspaper...and give
our readers news and insights they wouldn't get anywhere else. As mgr
of Cornell you have probably got some great ideas or anecdotes,
insights etc. Please get in touch with my U.S. managing editor Sue
Edwards at email@hidden and discuss possible ideas for our
next issue which is due out in March. Generally, we're trying to
keep stories to 500 words or less since we kind of went overboard with
longer stories in the first issue. Good luck!! P.S. we need "cool"
photos to run too!

Dear Lyle;

I thought that you would be interested to know that Team California
South - 12 and under played two games against Chuck's team this weekend.
The scores where:
		team Cal South Nor Cal
Sunday 5 1
Monday 2 2
shoutout	3 1

This I think is enough said!! Also all of our girls ARE 12 and under!!
Not 14 and under. We enjoyed playing them, and look forward to playing
your team.

It's ridiculous.

I don't believe there is anything in the OWHA constitution and bylaws that
would permit the OWHA executive to expel associations for selling books. I
can't believe that the members who vote at the annual general meeting would
be in favour of such action either. It's an empty threat.

I agree entirely, Rhonda. That makes it even more scary, in my opinion,
that some of the OWHA officers seem to think this book is dangerous.

I was unable to look at your homepage and couldn't find a listing for you
on the GeoCities webpage. Maybe I got the address wrong, you typed it in
as:

your page from my homepage at Angelfire. The address is

I maintain this page for my hockey team, The Keweenaw Wings Girls' Midget
Travel Team. We are based out of Houghton, Michigan, in the Upper
Peninsula. This is our first season, but we're 18-5. I'm the only goalie.
Could you send me some information on the womens' hockey program at OSU?
I am very serious about hockey and intend to play in college. Who's the
coach, do they have an email address I could reach them at? I live close to
Ohio, and I would love to attend your school(I'm still only a sophmore,
though.) Also, I heard you have a hockey school that runs during the
summer. Do you know if there is a womens' session? I'm still looking for a
hockey school for me and my friends to go to. I would appreciate it.

                    Thanks,
