Has anyone seen the Globe and Mail Truth and Rumours in the Sports
Section yesterday and on January 3rd. There has been some interesting
writing regarding the book "On the Edge, Women Making Hockey History,
its authors, and the OWHA. I am ordering the book from Coles and I have
been told it is very good, and not overly critical of the Ontario
Women's Hockey Association. I am quite anxious to read it!
Apparently the OWHA is trying to ban this book, because it is critical
of the OWHA. How do you feel about this?
As far as I can see, the OWHA is only promoting sales of the book by
drawing so much attention to it. I don't think they should be telling
their members what to read and not to read, nor should they be directing
Associations to not sell this book at their tournaments or be subjected
to expulsion.

I think that OWHA should get over it.... the book also take pot-shots at
USA Hockey and I don't see them whining about it...
I agree, the more they try to ban it the more people are going to want to
buy it... Personally (and I am only half way through it), I find it to be
an informative and interesting view of Canadian women's hockey... I am
enjoying it.... and yes, there is a bit of a Canadian bias... but its
obvious, so who cares.
My 2 cents-

Well, I thought that the book was pretty good at being neutral. It
looked at the good points and bad points. I think the main problem is
that it suggests that maybe its time to get some fresh blood and outlooks
in the organization.
Being involved in a small organization (Team Michigan, 8 teams), I'm coming
to realize that politics is the way of life, and there's good and bad to each
decision made.

Hi!
I got my women's hockey magazine today! I'm pretty excited! And on page 33
is my first published article. Ok, so maybe I'm not a great writer, but then
again I'm not all that great a hockey player either....
But I'm excited anyways! And I haven't even read the whole thing.

Surprise! There are people and governments and associations that don't
support women's sports. I almost fell over when I read that. These folks
must think we are running on double digit IQs. Buy On the Edge, read it,
enjoy it. Its no thriller, but it is very informative. Actually, when you
think of it, banning a book in the '90s is pretty funny. To think that a
book about women's hockey is up there with Fanny Hill, Tropic of Cancer,
and Lady Chatterly's Lover. Makes you proud doesn't it.
