Hi, I'm from Cincinnati and we are right now in the process of putting
togethor Cincinnati's first women's team and will be interested in traveling.
As a hockey photographer, I do the drive from Cincy to Chi-town several
times a season and it ain't all that bad. We don't have a determined ice
slot yet, but will be getting one in the future. I've taken your info down
and will get in touch as soon as we get ourselves togethor. We have a great
multi million dollar facility down here called "Icelands" with dual rinks
(one called the Canadian and one called the U.S.A. ), state of the art locker
rooms, restaraunt, indoor basketball, indoor soccer, pro shop and more things
that I can't even name! The facility was built for the IHL Cincinnati
Cyclones. Any one else out there willing to travel a bit, let me know.

I'm not sure works) instead of through the "women-in-hockey".

I'm interested in your state-of-art locker rooms. My club, the
Chesapeake Bay Lightning, just moved to the newest double rink arena
in the Baltimore/Wash DC area, with all the latest and greatest
everything. However, the locker rooms are built so that any time the
door opens, EVERYONE in the locker room is clearly visible to everyone
outside the locker room. Think about it - most locker rooms have some
sort of partition or wall jutting out that keeps the room from being
in clear view from the outside.

     Just curious,
     Jan.

My league has very different ideas of ABC... first there's the numbers:
1=A, 2=B, 3=C.  Then there's the letters within the numbers... I play 3C.
With appx. 7 levels of play (really there is no level 1, but there is an
equivalent division), I must still be playing soccer according to Canada!

I have yet to see a locker room where everyone was not potentially visible
from the outside. However, like restrooms, it makes sense to cut the angle
or block the view.

In our co-ed league, this is not an issue. If you are buck naked, you are
very well exposed no matter what, whether you are in the shower, the locker
room or streaking through the McDonalds restaurant in the lobby. On the
other hand, most of the gentlemen (off the ice only) will knock before
entering a restroom or call inside to clear if you need to shower.

I can't stand to be completely covered up, myself -- I feel like it
restricts movement in some way (even if it's only mental).

BUT -- as far as elastic and tape irritating you (and all those rolls of
tape add up), I think I have an alternative for you.

I found this great new thing called "Shin-Tight", from Viceroy. It's a
calf-sized elastic sheath that you place around your ankle, rolled down,
then put the shinguard in and pull the sheath up over it, so it ends just
below your kneecap. It covers your whole shinguard and keeps it on, nice
and snug, without being tight or annoying (ever have the bottom piece of
tape come off so your guard is flapping off your leg?). I just roll it
right over my socks, but you could also put over a bare leg if you don't
wear socks. I found the pair at Paragon
Sporting Goods Store here in NYC for about $11, and I love 'em.

Hope this helps...

Does anyone have information regarding the women/girls
tournament in Brampton in March/April of this year?
Dates, schedules, registration, fees, teams competing,
and coordinator information is greatly appreciated.
Let me know if your team (women's or girls) is
planning to play in the tournament.
Also, I'm interested in hearing from any teams that
have played at this tournament before.
Thanks in advance!
