Subject: New magazine launches!
Message-ID:
We're out there...finally! Women's Hockey magazine published its
first edition this week. As the first dedicated news source on the
women's game in Canada and the U.S.....we have already made national
headlines and are embroiled in a controversy. Our mandate is to be an
independent forum where all voices can be heard and ideas shared, but
already one large women's hockey association has attempted to pressure
our publication into not running a review or giving any publicity to
the new controversial book "On the Edge: Women Making Hockey History".
As managing editor of Women's Hockey, I owe it to my readers to report
the news...and this book is public knowledge and making news
internationally. I am not in the business of censorship and readers
would tell our magazine to take a hike if they found out we were
arbitrarily ignoring stories that didn't meet the approval of
different women's hockey associations.
Look for the book review and a hard-hitting opinion piece in our first
issue, along with features and news stories from coast to coast.
For a free trial issue to Women's Hockey, call toll free 1 800 807
2231 weekdays. After that, subscriptions are a reasonable $13.95 U.S.
(Canadian dollar accepted at par).
We're always looking for hot news tips and story ideas from Canada and
the U.S. You can email Sue Edwards, U.S. managing editor,
email@hidden OR Kelly Connelly, Canadian managing editor,

Enjoy!
