Will you be having any pictures of band members. Particularly band members
from Colby College.

The disparity in play is really about experience and skill development.
The longer you play the more apt you areto understand the strategy and
tactics of the game. Also the longer you play the better your basic
required skills become. Along with that the younger you are to start
development of those skills the better chance you have to be a better
player. With all of this you need ot have some athletic ability that is
in line with the skills etc., necessary to play the sport. Same with any
sport. From what I've seen all the women have tremendous desire and
motivation, otherwise they wouldn't be there.

I think this would be more effective, if you would make sure that he
gets a copy, and is informed that it is on the net.

Don't forget, the Toronto Sun has always been one very small step above the
National Inquirer. Consider the source. Also, from a friend who is a
sports journalist with a well respected paper - all his colleagues who
never noticed women's hockey are now rushing to be its champion. Why?
Well, there are only so many berths to Nagano and everyone is looking to
consolidate their positions in the quest to get (paid) tickets to the
Olympics. Maybe being a naysayer is this guy's gimmick.

Right on Julie!
I hope you sent this message to Steve! I recently read in the Toronto Star
that in 1990 a Canadian delagation to an IIHF meeting presented a video to
a German fellow, (I can't remember his name, he is now the President of the
IIHF), and he accused the Canadians of tampering with the video saying it
was playing on fast forward etc. and that females cannot skate that quickly
and so on...

Last nite our paper had an article on the Chinese vs Canada game and it
said that because the scores are so out of sync with Canada's opponents,
that the future of the World Championships is in jeopardy... Wow, if you go
back and look at the score differentials from the Olympics men's hockey in
the early years, you'll see that this isn't such an oddity! The women's
game is getting better all the time, and other countries are just beginning
to be competitive. We just need time!

I find it very insulting to question Women's Hockey as having Olympic
status when Beach Volleyball, ping pong and other sports have Olympic
status...
