Hi,

I had a question similar to Laura Chase's previous post...

I am looking for female hockey players in Tennessee!!
I'm on the rollerhockey team here at college, but It's 99% guys.
Are there any other female players out there??

Thanks,
Heather

On Monday, September 30, at Oakland / U. S. Ice Arena, there will
be a free hockey practice session, starting at 5:30 PM. The session
will be run by Andre Lacroix, one of the owners of the arena.

Andre is a former NHL player, having played for the Hartford Whalers,
Philadelphia Flyers and Chicago Blackhawks. Along with Bobby Hull,
he was one of the charter members of the World Hockey League.

Andre's daughter is the head women's ice hockey coach at Trinity
College in Connecticut, and Andre, with support from the Oakland
Junior Hockey Club, is determined that hockey for young girls
becomes a thriving activity in the Bay Area.

We hope this session will be the first of a series of girls-only
low-cost hockey sessions to be held at Oakland throughout the year.
In addition, we are forming a 12-and-under girls' hockey team to
take part in tournaments during this hockey season. Experienced
players born in 1984 or later are encouraged to get involved.

I have written to the new online service on the web US College Hockey.
Currently they are only covering Men's Division I hockey. They have
indicated that they may cover women's hockey after the first of the year (but
did not promise!!).

If you are interested in seeing coverage of Women's College Hockey it might
be a good idea to e-mail them at email@hidden

I have seen a good number of questions in the past year regarding teams and
scholarships. For those of you who are thinking about playing hockey in
college this could be your opportunity to learn about the teams, coaches and
players with this kind of coverage.

For those of you who just want to know where you can play, the more publicity
the sport receives the more likely it will be taken up in your area.

It's a win-win situation
