Has anyone there in hockeydom run into a woman named
Linda Campbell? She played for Cornell, & graduated
in 1992. The alumni office has lost contact with
her, and I thought this might be the best lead towards
finding her again.

Thank you,

Just a comment about the "Play It Again Sports" chain.
I think it's a great warehouse to pick up decent equipment
at decent prices, & have made purchases there myself.
However, I was made aware by some friends in the sporting
goods industry that the store's method of operation has
the unfortunate side effect of encouraging equipment
theft. This is because they buy used equipment with no
questions asked, and unwittingly provide an easy outlet
to dispose of stolen goods.
I am not trying to libel the chain, I only wanted people
to be aware. (no offense, Ingrid :)! ).

Not many good solutions to this problem, eh?

Several members of the Clarkson Edge (formerly known as Clarkson Women's
Hockey) went to the game last night in Canton, NY. It was inspiring to see the
women playing in the Team USA jerseys, preparing for the Olympics. However, it
was disappointing that the arena was probably not even half full. I expect thatwhen the Clarkson Golden Knights play the Polish national team tonight, Cheel
will be holding many more spectators. While I do not play to please anyone
other than my team and myself, it seems that we have a long way to go before
women's hockey is taken seriously at any level. Well, I will still enjoy my
time on the ice at Clarkson and hope that when I leave here in the spring, I
will be able to find work in an area where I can continue to play hockey until
I am no longer able to stand!

By the way...Still looking for teams, college club or senior women, to play
this season. Check out the home page for open times and/or send an e-mail.

Laurel,

I've passed on a copy of your email to Julie (the current Cornell coach),
so maybe she has some up to date record of Linda Campbell. However, if
there's no solution that way, then there's the annual Cornell Women's
Team alumnae game/weekend over November 1-3, so perhaps Linda or one
of her friends might be able to get back to you with the contact info..

Of course, the reason for responding openly to the whole group is just in
case there are any other ex-Cornell Women's Team folk out in net-land who
might have moved faster than the postal service could keep up, and to say
that the bash on the Nov 1-3 weekend is full of great stuff, so pack your
kit and/or bring your memories, email Julie (email@hidden) for details,
and join in the fun.

As a personal friend of a P.I.A.S. store owner, I have to say that the
theft from his store exceeds any possibility of his purchase of stolen
goods. It happens to everyone. Besides, by turning stuff in, even in
near-new and new condition, you don't get much money at all (only 30%
value in cash)--pocket change to put toward your own purchases. So my
opinion on the matter is that while in theory this might be valid, in
practice it is hardly worth the effort.

But these days....who knows?

Ingrid :)

If I were to try to form an association or league or something of this
nature in So. Calif., would I also need to worry about legal and
insurance issues? Insurance is a big deal in California and everyone
makes a fuss over it.

Also, someone had mentioned before that they have by-laws for their team
or association. Might I obtain a copy of those by-laws? (email to
email@hidden or email me for my address).

Thank you all!
