This is the result of today's Quarter final game between Providence College
and Cornell University played at Schneider Arena in Providence.
If anyone has other Quarter final results, I'd love to hear about them.
Thanks.

Don't have any details but, PC advances to the semi-final where they will
most likely face Brown, next Saturday at the Whittemore Center.
Does anybody have the other Quarter final scores?

I found out this evening that RIT Women beat Bowdoin 5-2 (unsure of the exact
score) Sat 3/2 and will play Middlebury on Sunday 3/3 at Middlebury. GOOD LUCK
LADY TIGERS!!!!!
I realize this is a women's hockey list but I can't help from sharing the great
news. RIT Men's Hockey just took the ECAC West Division Championship after
beating Elmira on Friday night 10-2 and beating Canisius Saturday night 3/2 3-2
in Overtime! GREAT JOB TIGERS! LET'S CLINCH IN THE NCAA's!

Subject: Just a thought for next year
Message-ID:
As the year comes to a close, I would just like to throw out a thought about
women's hockey and in particular this list.
It has taken women's sports quite a while to take off and become popular as a
spectator sport. I suppose part of the problem is the image or lack thereof
that women athletes have suffered in the past. However, the big thing that I
have noticed is that women do not support their own cause. Hopefully this
will change as more women become active in real competitive sports and can
enjoy it from the stands. A good part of the enjoyment is not reliving
vicariously, your playing days, but reliving the emotions and tensions that
went with it.
I couldn't help but notice that on Hockey-info-L not only are requests for
information made but people seem to enjoy recapping the games, teams,
standings and on occasion providing "constructive" criticism. I realize that
the sport is young but this line should be more than just a problem solver.
Its good that information gets spread around via this line, but I don't see
a lot of education as to what is happening now.
After the hoopla for the Summer Olympics in Atlanta dies down, it is only
natural that women's hockey will step into the limelight. Women can do more
than figure skate. How many people out there with daughters have even the
slightest idea who the coaches are in the ECAC and Alliance conferences. For
that matter how many of you have any idea who is any good as a coach.
How does my daughter get seen by college coaches or national coaches. The
answer to this question is unless you go to them they don't. I realize that
funds in most schools are limited, however, my daughter who now attends and
plays for a college was getting literature from some schools asking her where
she planned on going to college this year. In spite of the fact she had been
to the National Camp four years in a row, some of the coaches did not have
any idea who she was before she got into college.
This a golden opportunity to advance women's hockey as a sport. However,
this will only happen if we treat it with the same attitude as men's sports.
I hope I didn't offend anybody but if I did may be you need to look to why
you were offended. I enjoyed the season.
