Notification of Niagara University joining the growing list of 
women's ice hockey teams. The ice age has arrived at Niagara with the 
men now having entered the fray. The women will be starting with a 
club team in the fall of 1996. The intent is to play as an 
independent in 1997. The athletic department has given indications 
that there will be scholarships becoming available for women playing 
for the Purple Eagles in 1997. The coaching staff has not been 
officially confirmed but the announcement of the head coach should be 
made in the near future. Once the coach has been officially signed 
there will then be further information on the development of Niagara 
University's Women Ice Hockey Team.
