Hi Folks,
Once upon a time, I maintained a Hockey Quote archive on the web. That
directory was unfortunately deleted. I am in the process of rebuilding
the archive and am welcoming any and all quotes on hockey, about hockey,
coaching, parenting a hockey child, etc.
Please send any relevant material to email@hidden. Please do not
blanket the list with this information. When I have a working model, I
will post a URL to the list.
Include any info on you that you would like added. I'll credit
anything that I get to the source.

Subject: Women's ice hockey tournaments--Tucson?

Hello- I've been trapped in Tucson, Arizona for the past three years and I
continue to hear these rumors of a Christmastime women's ice hockey tournament.
However, apparently this tournament has been cancelled (due to lack of teams?
) for the past two years. Does anyone know anything about this virtual
trounament? (Or better- are there any teams willing to come to sunny Tucson
in the middle of winter for a tournament? We can always scrape together a
team!)

I'm going to complain about how little is being done to help kick-start women's
hockey in Victoria, Australia. How is it that after almost a year, struggling for
the VIHA to recognise that we are serious, we are only just being acknowledged?
What do women in Victoria have to do to prove that we want our hockey teams to be
taken seriously and for the VIHA to support us?
I'm sorry if I have offended anyone, but this is a matter I feel very strongly about at the present moment in time.
Would anyone have any suggestions as to how we can make the association sit up and
recognise our existance?

Subject: Women in ROLLER Hockey

There has not been much discussion here this summer about women and girls
playing roller hockey. My 10-year-old daughter was asked by her ice hockey
coach to join a roller hockey league that he was organizing at a local
indoor raquet club. It's set up as a house league and has worked out very
well for Jessica even though she is the only girl in the league. She is
the leading scorer on her team and has really influenced the style of play
on her team which is now passing very effectively to set up scoring plays
(something you don't see too often with a beginner's boys age 8-10 roller
hockey team) and leads its division. She is attending a summer girls' ice
hockey clinic every Monday night here in Philly and then plays in her
roller hockey league every Tuesday night. Then, on top of that, she plays
street hockey as an elective activity with the boys at her summer day camp.
So Jessica is really getting her fill of hockey (ice, roller and street)
this summer! She is living out her hockey summer dream. Just wondering
whether there are other girls, women on the list who are getting involved
in roller hockey which is really taking off as a new sport in the
Philadelphia region.
