I'm sorry, I meant that a summer season in Chicago was $2700
per team, not per person. I guess that sounded high to me
because I've only played in roller hockey leagues so far,
and the most expensive one I know of is $950/team. (We're
definitely not playing the cheapest sport around!)
As a side-note, I'm wondering how many people play
rollerhockey in addition to ice hockey. (That's how I got
started in ice hockey actually.) Do you find that it helps
or detracts from your ice hockey game?
For me, roller hockey has been the only way I could learn
how to play hockey until I could get ice time. While it
doesn't allow you to learn how to stop on ice, I picked up a
lot of stickhandling, general skating skills, and hockey
strategy while playing roller hockey. I would definitely
recommend it for those of you who can't find an ice rink
close enough to home, or who can't find a beginner's team
that will take you. It will give you a head start
(especially since you can play it off-season).
