It's probably worth pointing out that only in Ontario is there a separate
governing body for female hockey. It would be very enlightening to see the
numbers of female players in each province divided into those who play
female hockey and those who play integrated hockey. I know that a very
high majority of the female players in Ontario play female hockey, and it
would be interesting to see whether this trend were consistent in Nova
Scotia and Prince Edward Island.

Another data point with exciting implications, from the other side of the
border: in Minnesota last season, there were more female teams in the
12&under division, than in either the 15&under division or the 19&under
division. To me that has lots of promise for the future of our sport, and
shows that more little girls play, when they have the chance to play on
girls' teams.
