Hi everyone,

My boyfriend was at a sporting goods trade show last year and Manon was
at a booth signing the poster mentioned below, so he got me an AUTOGRAPHED
copy! Unfortunately, I haven't seen the poster anywhere else. I'll check the
fine print on the poster again.

Wednesday night at Bright found the Harvard Crimson burying the Polar Bears of
Bowdoin 9-0. It was not a lively game. Of the two teams, it appeared to me
Bowdoin got more out of the contest that will help them in their final drive
in the ECAC Alliance.

As the game started, Harvard slowly surged forward. The Polar Bears managed
to put on some pressure, but generally were absorbing Crimson attacks. Alice
DuBois (Ellen Frump) opened the scoring for Harvard. Dubois made a fine solo
thrust up the right wing and then cut in front of the net before tucking her
shot behind the goalie. Holly Leitzes (Jenny Duval) made it 2-0 when her
point shot trickled in. The play developed from a face-off.

In the second Harvard looked a tad more determined. Jen Gerometta (Casi
Walker, DuBois) provided the final touch after a series of quick, short
passes. Gerometta got in the act again when she drove down the left wing,
circled the net, and made a lovely pass to Elizabeth Ganzenmuller (Gerometta).
Nice goal. The Bowdoin defense was having troubles coping with Harvard. AJ
Mleczko got a goal to make it 5-0, when the Polar Bears did not control the
puck in their own zone. Mleczko (Catherine Kreindler) scored again when she
slid the puck under the netminder. DuBois (Duval) tapped in a good set-up
from Duval during a Crimson break-in play. The final score of the period came
when Mleczko's (Christa Calagione) return pass found net. In the last period,
Mleczko (Leitzes) closed out the scoring when she made a solo burst and deked
both the blue liners and the goalie.

The black clad Polar Bears, overly influenced by The Cure?, played two lines
to Harvard's third and a half. While Bowdoin at times looked good, generally
they were overwhelmed. I was most impressed with first-year defender Caroline
Chapin. She can really skate. Chapin has the skills and instincts to become
a marvelous blue liner. I also liked Eliza Wilmerding who made some good
reads in her own zone. On attack, Emily Hinman showed some strong back-
checking. The line of Kacy White, Sarah Mazur and Jane MacLeod played
exceedingly well together. I liked the way they spread things out on their
attacks. Bowdoin seems a good, developing team, and I can easily see why they
are leading their Division in the Alliance.

Harvard played a very casual game. I would have thought with the two big
league games this weekend, where the Crimson has to win at least one match, if
they hope to have any chance of making the play-offs, that they would have
used this game to better advantage. Harvard did score some goals, but their
execution was not very good. Whitney Smith got her chance in goal and played
fairly well. Leitzes provided solid defense. The line of Gerometta, DuBois
and Walker demonstrated the best team play. Dubois made a number of excellent
rushes. Kyle Walsh was the other forward that looked sharp. She finds open
space well and always wants the puck. Jen Landry and Ganzenmuller got more
ice time last evening, and both acquitted themselves very well. While I did
not want to see the troops grinding it out against Bowdoin, I fear the match
was not very good preparation for this weekend's task.

My women's ice hockey team in Raleigh, North Carolina is
interested in contacting a women's team in Conneticut featured
in a recent syndicated news clip about "Women in Hockey". I
think their name is "Lightening". They mentioned wanting to play
other adult women's teams. We also are interested in playing teams
in the east, so if anyone out there is interested let me know.
If anyone knows of this mysterious Conneticut team and how I can
contact them, please let me know.
  We greatly appreciate your help!
