Here is the information from my web pages about the European A
Championship which started on Monday of this week (in Riga, Latvia).
This event is usually a qualifier for the World Championship (i.e.,
the top 5 teams from the European A Championship qualify to attend
the World Championship), but since the next World Championship is not
until 1997 (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada), that incentive is not there.
However, I suppose the incentive to do well at the European A Championship
is so that you won't be demoted to the European B pool. The best team
from the European B Championship moves up to the European A pool and the
worst team from the European A Championship moves down to the European
B pool. The European B Championship will take place in Denmark from
March 27-31, 1995. I imagine that Ray Barton will keep us up to date
on that since his wife is a goalie for Great Britain ... assuming that
he's not there watching the games ... or perhaps he'll bring his Laptop
and modem along! :-)

European A Championship:
Date: March 19-26 1995 in Riga, Latvia
  Countries: Finland, Sweden, Switzerland,
             Germany, Norway, Latvia

European B Championship:
  Date: March 27-31 1995, Denmark
Countries: Denmark, Great Britain, Solvakia, Holland
             France, Ukraine, Russia, Czech

Okay, so here's the info about the A Championships ... directly
from my web page....... This information was provided by Ivar
Grahn (email@hidden)...
