Reply to Kim on rostering on USA Hockey roster which is set at 20:
You can roster more - see your local USA Hockey registrar. Our
registrar has let us do this for areas where there were no other
teams for them to register on and not enough women for two teams.
You cannot, however, ever have more than 18 skaters and 2 goalies on
the bench at one time.

Hi to the women-in-hockey list,
I play on an adult women's team in Brooklyn, NY
called the Brooklyn Blades. We started a year ago as a women's clinic
for women who had little or no experience with either hockey or
skating. Originally, there were about 12 regulars who ranged from moms
with no skating experience who have kids that play to women who had
figure skated but never played hockey, a real mishmash of ages and abilities.
Since our rink is outdoors, our season ends around March when the weather
gets warmer. Some of the original 12 women continued to play at other
rinks in the NY area and then began to play roller hockey over the summer
(but that's another story).
Our program is now in its second year and we have grown to
about 30 women. We are split into a travel team, which plays at roughly
a Division E level, and a beginner's clinic.
Due to the lack of women's teams in the area, we are looking for other
teams to play within a day's drive of NYC.
Please e-mail all inquires to email@hidden
Thanks,
Isa
