Three notes of importance to readers of this mailing list:

First, I found out this morning that a change I made a few weeks ago to
close an ftp security hole closed it TOO well, and caused listproc to stop
archiving back-issues of the digest. Therefore, there are NO archived copies
of any messages sent to these lists between December 2 and today. This is
now fixed, but this is obviously a nasty hole in the historical data for
the list. If you're one of those net.packrats who keeps copies of this (all
of them or some of them) PLEASE email me letting me know you have them 
available. Please do NOT just email me copies, since my mailbox would implode
if I got ten copies of each digest. I'll work out details of getting what I
need with you individually.

Second, as a side-effect of trying to FIX the first problem, the list processor
went down for about 20 minutes earlier this morning. During that time, any
email sent to the list vanished into the dust. I apologize for this. If you
sent something out and didn't get a message back from the server or if you
don't see it appear as a message to the list you sent it to within a couple
of hours, please resend.

Finally, please be aware that your List Moms are going to be on holiday for
a few days. We will still have SOME access to the system and will be
monitoring things, but we won't be as active or as quick to respond to
problems or questions. Please be patient, and we'll get back to you. 

Everything involving the mail lists and the ftp archives should be back to
normal now. If you run into something you see as a possible problem, PLEASE
send mail to this address and let me know. 

Again, my apologies for these problems.
