I think in many sports having little drill "games" works for both 
competitiveness and skills. Have the girls in teams of 2 or 3 send the puck into the 
offesive zone and play for a set period of time. Another one is to place the goal 
in the corner with some room around the back of it to play. Split the girls 
into two teams that make a semi-circle perimeter. Each girl from each team has a 
number and call random numbers to come in to play 2v2 or 3v3. If the puck 
comes to someone on the perimeter then they have to pass it to their teammate. 
Relay races are also good with cones for them to skate around. Encourage girls 
to cheer each other on while they are doing the drills.
