5TH annual Tournament is in the Bag!

Triple overtime was needed in the second semi-final between the Montreal team and the North East Stars. After being defeated 5-1 by the Stars in the round robin, the Montreal team backed by some superb goaltending and an overtime powerplay, won the game 3-2 with 1:17 left in the triple overtime. For complete results visit the schedule page on the web-site

In the other OPEN semi-final, the Summer storm totally dominated the SandSharks recrut team with a convincing 5-1 victory which would have easily been 10-1 with out some spectacular goaltending by Sophie Courtemanche.

The Bantam Semi-finals saw the Ottawa 67’s cruise by the Vermont Stars and the Nova Scotia fury came out to play with their solid performance against the Patriotes de Trois Rivieres. After being shut-out 8-0 in the round robin, the Fury went into the last 5 minutes of the game in a 0-0 deadlock. The patriots were however a little too much for the much younger Fury to handle and scored with 2:20 remaining in the game to win 1-0.

The Bantam finals saw the Patriotes win the game easily by a 5-0 margin showing that their defeat in the round robin to the Ottawa 67’s just a bump in the road.

The Open Final saw the Summer storm and Montreal go at it head to head with the storm outlasting Montreal 6-3. the game was still close midway through the 3rd but the Montréal team just ran out of gas to finally succumb to their fatigue.

Congratulations goes out to the Tournament MVP from the Ottawa 67’s Kristen Ezard #66 who compiled some amazing stats throughout.

Thanks to all teams who made this a great tournament as we hope to make it better once again next year.

We invite all parents coaches to chat on the message board to give me some feedback on the tournament.
