Hi - I think that having corporate or governmental sponsorship can get you
money to advertise your program. Also if there are local fairs or flea markets,
you can set up a booth and have kids shoot on roller hockey nets - just to
get some interest. We did this with the Island Waves Girls Hockey organization
on Long Island. Another idea can be to work with a local girl scout troop -
just for a skate - if your girls come down in hockey equipment and show off
their skating talents, this can spark interest. When we started our girls
organization, we had very inexpensive clinics - where people could pay as they go -
so girls would be encouraged to try it out. When we were able to, we brought
down our old used equipment to cut down on expenses for families trying this
for the first time. We made up signs and posted them in stores and
supermarkets and at various school gyms. We also made up bumper stickers, magnets and
pencils with our website name and gave them out for free. Good luck. Most of
all.... dont give up
               - Judy Pernick
