I really don't think having a baby will dramatically decrease your playing abilities.  If anything it'll toughen you up!.  If you happen to take a hit you'll just say to yourself, "That was nothing compared to childbirth!"  Keep yourself in good condition during your pregnancy and eat properly - don't go overboard and start "eating for two".  During both of my pregnancy's I walked about 3 km per day and ate well - no junk, no pop.  After my second baby (she's now 10 months old) I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight and on the ice in a tournament when she was 6 weeks old.  Now breastfeeding and playing hockey is another story ....
