I've heard of women playing as long as 4 months into their pregnancy.
I think it really depends a lot on how your pregnancy is going. If
there are any complications (such as spotting) I really don't think
your doctor or midwife would recommend it.

One thing that might be a problem is if you broke a bone, since X-rays
are not recommended when you're pregnant. I heard of someone who broke
a leg while she was pregnant, and it did not set properly because she
didn't have an X-ray done to figure out if it was positioned
correctly. I would think that if you are just playing recreational
hockey, the chance of breaking a bone is not very high though.

I did play a few games of pickup hockey with the guys before I knew
for sure that I was pregnant. I decided to switch to other forms of
exercise that were lower in impact. It has been tough not to play any
hockey, but I figure that I will be that much more excited to start
playing again once the baby has been born ... then the big issue will
be finding enough time to play! My sister who is a professional
mountain bike racer is currently 8 months pregnant, and is still going
on 2.5 hour bike rides (not off-road though)! She said she had to
adjust her pedaling so that her knees didn't hit her belly though. :-)

I think I may have heard that Lisa Brown played at the '98 Olympics
while being pregnant -- not sure if anyone can confirm that rumour.
