How long you can play depends on the level you play at and the league you're in.  How long you play also depends on the kind of pregnancy you're having.  You should consult with your doctor and let her know your intentions.  
 
I play recreational hockey on Manitoulin Island and played until the end of my fourth month of second pregnancy.  Most of the other players in the league aren't dirty players but I did avoid playing one particular team.  I did notice that I wasn't as fast as I normally am but other than that my team mates didn't even know I was pregnant.
 
I reluctantly missed the last 2 months of the hockey season and even dreamed about playing.
