FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 27, 2003

2003 U.S. Women's National Team Postpones Travel To IIHF Women's World
Championship In Beijing, China

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Hockey today announced that it has postponed
travel for the 2003 United States Women's National Team to Beijing, China to
participate in the 2003 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World
Championship. Due to increasing concerns about the spread of Severe Acute
Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in Southeast Asia, the team will not depart
before early next week. The U.S. Women's National Team was originally slated
to meet today in Chicago and travel to Beijing on Friday.

Yesterday the Canadian Hockey Association made a similar statement.

The announcement was made by USA Hockey President Walter L. Bush, Jr. (Edina,
Minn.), Vice President and International Council Chairman Ron DeGregorio
(Derry, N.H.), Executive Director Doug Palazzari (Colorado Springs, Colo.),
and Senior Director, International Administration Art Berglund (Colorado
Springs, Colo.).

"We will use this time to continue to monitor and discuss the situation in
conjunction with the International Ice Hockey Federation," said Palazzari.
