USA Hockey today also named the roster for the 2003 U.S. Women's Under-22

Ben Smith (Gloucester, Mass.), two-time head coach of the U.S. Olympic
Women's Ice Hockey Team, will fill that same role with the 2003 U.S. Under-22
Women's Select Team/Team Blue. Smith led the United States to the inaugural women's

The announcement was made by USA Hockey President Ron DeGregorio (Salem,

Berglund (Colorado Springs, Colo.).

The Festival coaching staff will include four women's college head coaches:
Mike Gilligan (Univ. of Vermont) and Joy Woog (Northeastern Univ.) will guide
Team Red, and Bill Beaney (Middlebury College) and Heather Linstad (Univ. of
Connecticut) will be behind the bench for Team White. Joining Smith as assistant
coaches of the Under-22 Team/Team Blue will be two more veteran women's
college coaches: Jackie Barto (Ohio State Univ.) and Jeff Kampersal (Princeton
Univ.). Rounding out the Under-22 coaching staff will be Tim Gerrish (Saranac
Lake, N.Y.), who has served as assistant for the 1995 U.S. Women's Select Team,
the 2001 U.S. Women's National Team and the 2002 U.S. Women's Select Team.
Gerrish will also serve as the Festival's goaltending coach.

Festival are 13 Olympians, including seven members of both the 1998 gold-medal
winning and 2002 silver-medal winning teams, five additional members of the 2002
team and one member of the 1998 team. Three other players selected to the
