Hi, all. After a few days of silence, we're back on-line. My apologies
for the outage.

For what it's worth, the server upgrade went fine. Unfortunately, none
of you would know that, because in one of those total coincidences Lord
Murphy loves, at the time I was working on the server upgrade, our DSL
line failed. Today, the nice people from Covad came out, fixed out
network, and everything is more or less back to normal.

Earlier today you should have received a subscription notice to the
mailing lists you're a member of here at Plaidworks. that was me
loading everyone into the new system. As of right now, I have all of
the lists on hold, waiting for the three days of mail to show up and be
processed, and for me to have time to send out this message. Once this
goes out, I'll start turning the lists back on and normal traffic will
start again.

A couple of quick technical details -- we're now running the server on
OS X 10.2, and we've upgraded the mail list system to Mailman 2.1b3.
Overall, you shouldn't notice much difference, but this new 2.1 release
has some fun new features. If you're the type of person who likes to
poke at those things, feel free to poke and send me feedback. right
now, we're running the list server with a fairly generic configuration,
while I figure out how I want to customize things. If you have
suggestions on what can be improved, I'm all ears.

Again, I apologize for the silence. These things happen, unfortunately,
and as it happens, this was a fairly simple problem with an easy fix --
once we got Covad out here to fix it. next time, I'll try to schedule
these kinds of hardware failures with a litle more advance warning to
all of us.

Take care.

chuq (and laurie)

Plaidworks.

Very funny, Scotty. Now beam my clothes down here, will you?
