As a teacher in a public school, I find the following
pretty offensive:

"In reality it's really necessary for parents to
become involved because most administrators
are taught in college that their students are unruly
young people who don't know anything (thus the need to
"educate" them...how else can a teacher justify
their holier than thou attitude?) and so students
comments and input are generally ignored. "

>From Jaime's mom, it certainly does sound like this
particular principal isn't taking the students' input
into consideration. But there also is the possibility
that she sees other opportunities for her students to
play sports and prefers to spend limited funding on
the arts. (Although that doesn't make it right that
there is a boys' team but not a girls' team.) I don't
think one principal's decision, when we haven't heard
her reasons directly from her, is cause for slandering
an entire profession. Nice job painting all teachers
with the same brush as the administrators, when
Jaime's mom indicated that several teachers in the
school support the sports program.
