Actually, from what I understood, there aren't any competitive teams at the 
school, and Jaime's mum is trying to organize a boys'/co-ed team.

Hockey fanatic though I am, I think that if I were in charge of deciding 
how to distribute the limited resources of a high school (not just money, 
but also teacher supervision time), I would lean towards supporting 
activities which are not available in the community and/or which could be 
done without much money from the individual families.  There is so much 
community hockey for teenagers in Ontario (recreational and competitive, 
girls'-only and boys' teams which include girls) that high school hockey is 
just a bonus - mostly for the same kids who are already playing on 
community teams.
