We get charged closer to $200 I believe for ice time in our co-ed league at a rink in Baton Rouge, LA that is very old and only open from Oct. to the end of March. The good rink in Lafeyette gives us a good deal.

I just moved to Northwest Arkansas and the cost of Hockey is the best I have ever heard. Free. The rink is only about 5 years old, open year round and was built as a part of a community complex out of the estate of a local family. All programs run by the complex are free but we do have to pay a nominal fee of about $100 to cover the cost of insurance and jersey's for league play. The competition isn't very strong and there is no women's program yet but for the price I'm not complaining.

Noelle

I just bought a pair of CCM 852s (I think they're 1999 model). They were
advertised online as "women's" skates. I bought them to replace a pair of
CCM 952s which I bought in a junior size and wore out the lining on the
inside of the ankle. This pair is comfortable and feels good on the ice, but
I can't seem to find a skate that is really snug around the ankle without
going a size too small, which jams my toes. Has anybody tried the Mission
Betty Flyweights? Their advertising is very convincing, but at my local
shop, they cost about $400, which is about $150 or $200 more than I want to
pay. Any suggestions?

Try a pair of skates that can be heat fitted. I got CCM1052's (in a junior size), had them heat fitted, and have had no problems with them.

Also - you may want to try Bauers - they are generally designed to be narrower than the CCM's.
