The Philadelphia Freeze consists of 4 teams and offers a competitive & fun
ice hockey playing experience to players of all skill levels, beginner to
advanced!   New players are welcome.  Although our A/B teams require tryouts,
our C teams are open to all, including beginner and developing players.

If you know of any interested players, please forward this information to
them.   Thanks!

A/B Team Tryouts
b" Open tryouts are being held for the A/B teams over 3 Wed nights in
September (11th, 18th and 25th)  at The Flyers Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ
b" Cost: $60.00 payable prior to participation

Team Practices
b" The A/B teams will practice weekly on Wed. nights, 8:00 PM at The Flyers
Skate Zone in Pennsauken, NJ
b" The C teams will practice weekly on Mon. nights at PENNbs Class of 1923
rink, 7:15-8:45 PM
b" First A/B practice (after try-outs): Oct. 2nd!
b" First C practice: Oct. 7th!

Dues
b" A/B teams: $625 ($565 + $60 tryout fee = $625) provides 25 1.5-hour
practices, an 18 game schedule, USA Hockey membership, MAWHL membership and
playoff tournament (qualification necessary) and, for the A team, a USA
Hockey sponsored district play-off tournament.
b" C teams: $475 provides 18 1.5-hour practices, a 12 game schedule and USA
Hockey membership.

New Players
b" New players are welcome to join the Philadelphia Freeze.   If you have any

b" New players can bTRY OUTb for the Freeze C teams.   Commit to the
first 3
practice sessions for $60.  After 3 sessions, if you decide to join the
Freeze, this initial payment will be applied towards your dues.
b" Most games are played on weekends.   Home games will be played at our
practice rinks.  For the A/B teams, travel destinations for away games range
from MD to north NJ.   For the C team, all away games will be in the
Philadelphia area.

Just curious what everyone's ice time costs and season
fees are this year.

Our ice time is $250/hour 
Travel teams are $1700-2200/player
House teams are $1000/player

NYC Costs:

Ice time:  approx $450 + per ice slot (depending upon rink)

Brooklyn Blades Travel Team Fee $725 - includes weekly practices, and approx 18 game schedule + 1 tournament (Usually Brampton).  Season runs from Late September through Easter Weekend.

In the past, team cost has included access to our weekly skills clinic at a discount.

It it the Icenter in Salem N.H. They are putting two girls
teams in the new U16 league of Mass. Hockey. I coached one
of the players last year. She was one of two girls on mostly
boys team. The other was my Daughter Amy. Her name is Laura
Sansoucie. Anyway she made the top gun team. Tryouts were last
april. This is part of Steve Kaspers (former Boston Bruin) Top
Gun program. Some of the coaches are former NHL'ers like Ray
Bourque.

There are two top gun operations in the Boston Area.  The original one is a 
summer league in Hingham on Thursday nights.  Consists of six teams of 
current and former professionals, and college division one players.   
Starting at 6:30pm, it's a great take, no charge addmission, with an 
opportunity for autographs, and a free cook-out.

The other top gun is only a few years old and operates mostly on the North 
Shore. 
It is youth based tournament teams.  Competes agains Boston Icemen, etc.   I 
suggest you contact Wes Tuttle at the Ice Centre in Salem NH for contact 
details.

I just tried a pair of roller shoes (like Heelys, but with middle-front
wheels too, for a total of 4 wheels in the mid-part of the foot, forming
a square like "traditional" roller skates).

I was terrible in them - no balance. It felt really awkward even though
I have terrific balance on the ice and in rollerblades.

My question is -- if I were to become proficient at using these shoes
(if possible!), would it hurt my on-ice and rollerblade form? Or would
this be a separate, non-conflicting skill?

I was hoping to be able to skate to the grocery store, then pop the
wheels back in the shoe to shop... but if these roller shoes will
actually hurt my on-ice performance, then it isn't worth it!

If anyone knows of any removable-wheel shoes that actually feel like
"regular" skating, I'd like that info as well...

The Delaware Phoenix Organization is looking for goalies and players for the
upcoming season.  We skate out of the University of Delaware ice rink which is
in Newark.  We have 2 teams -  a developmental/beginners team and an
intermediate level team.  As a special incentive Goalies pay only minimal
registration fees and such.  This is our second year and our first year with a
developmental team.  Come out and join us!

Hi, I'm a goalie at Northeastern University and I will be returning to Boston 
early this year - August 20th - and our ice doesn't go down until nearly a 
month later and I was wondering if anybody on this list is from the area and 
knew of a team I could skate with, local clinics or open ice. Unfortunately 
my transportation is limited.  Thank you for your help!
