Personally, I always use black tape and no one has ever suggested I
couldn't so I doubt there is rule saying white only

Hi,

Thanks for the input from those of you who corrected my comment about white
tape being required for goalie sticks. Some of you checked your rulebooks for
various leagues and cleared up the fact that there is no such rule.

However, I think I know where I got this idea stuck in my head. I found this
in the NHL rule book on nhl.com:

"Rule 19 Sticks

(a) The sticks shall be made of wood or other material approved by the Rules
Committee, and must not have any projections. Adhesive tape of any color may
be wrapped around the stick at any place for the purpose of reinforcement or
to improve control of the puck. In the case of a goalkeeper's stick, there
shall be a knob of white tape or some other protective material approved by
the League. This knob must not be less than one-half inch (=") thick at the
top of the shaft"

I may have been watching a game on TV where they mentioned this rule and
somehow I misunderstood it to apply to the blade as well as the knob.

Thanks,
Jen Faye

I have the river city sports catalog.. they have just about any jersey you
could want... all NHL and minor league jersies, world jersies(ie team USA,
Canada, Finland, Sweden, Russia, etc) They may have some junior league
jersies too -- i cant remember and I dont have my catalog handy at the
moment. I know they've got totally blank (without crest or number) NHL team
jersies that you can customize yourself. It's nice. RCS is the official
Team Canada store too.. you can get just about anything you want in Team
Canada or NHL merchandise.. They carry some team USA merchandise but it's
mostly clothes and not nearly as much as Team Canada (theyre based in
Onatrio, obviously).. you can request a catalog at www.rivercitysports.com..
Good luck!!
    Jessica
